Lisa & Al Brayton, Owners of Thirty-Seven Wines
and Paradise Vineyards

Al Brayton's first wine-making experience was with his friend, Father Tom Turnbull, while he was still in law school. The wine was made from grapes left on the vines after the picking crew had come through; it was a field blend of Cab & Merlot and bottled in discarded glass found in dumpsters at some of the finest wineries in Napa Valley. Father Tom made sure Al chose the appropriate bottle shape and color to complement the wine. They soaked the labels off and sanitized the glass to prepare for bottling. Al thought the wine was wonderful, but now in retrospect knows it wasn't very good.
Al got to know Lisa at work after a discussion about Port at an office birthday party. Initially their relationship was secret due to the "no fishing off the company's pier" policy.
