Presbyterian/Catholic Habitat Build is on hold
|
Catch the Building Spirit is now in its 28th year
An update from Catch the Building Spirit
Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, our House Build and the Wall Panel Build are on hold until it is safe to go ahead with this work. We will send out emails and post on Facebook when we start to have some idea of our schedule. Thank you for your support and stay safe.
Catch the Building Spirit,
the Presbyterian/Catholic Habitat for Humanity partnership, which provides affordable housing for families in need, will construct this year's house at 26718 Sandy Drive, Trotwood. It will begin with Blitz Week (when the main structure of the house is built: framing, siding, roofing, etc.). Construction will continue throughout the summer to complete all the rest of the house.
The house, which is being built for
Ira and Terese Compton and their three children, is three bedrooms and one bath.
If your church is interested in participating with labor, hospitality, or financing, please email
Hank Baust, Presbyterian Coordinator for Catch the Building Spirit, at
bausthd@gmail.com or call 937-429-0360.
Habitat Houses through Catch the Building Spirit is a
designated network of Presbytery of the Miami Valley.
Build Wall Panels for this Year's Habitat House
You and your church are invited to join in building walls, which will be used in this year's habitat house. The wall build will take place at
Southminster Presbyterian Church, Centerville.
Everyone is invited, young and old, youth groups, families, etc. to come nail together wall panels to be used in Catch the Building Spirit's Habitat house build this year. It is not necessary to work the entire shift to participate.
Light breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will be provided.

224th General Assembly to be conducted online only
|
For the first time in the history of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the denomination's General Assembly will be held online only. The Committee on the Office of the General Assembly (COGA) voted unanimously to approve a plan for a reduced assembly gathering that will require everyone involved - commissioners, advisory delegates, corresponding members and staff - to participate in a digital assembly.
Details are still being worked out, but the plan includes:
- Question and answer session (town hall gathering) for moderator candidates followed by the election of a new moderator/co-moderators on Friday, June 19
- Opening worship, two plenaries on Friday, June 26
- Critical business, three plenaries, including stated clerk election and budget, on Saturday, June 27

Pentecost Offering helps young people
|
The Pentecost Offering is traditionally received on the day of Pentecost, this year on May 31. It provides a direct way to meet the needs of children at risk, youth, and young adults. Congregations are encouraged to keep 40% of the offering to support ministries benefiting these age groups in their communities.
The General Assembly's portion (60%) provides leadership development opportunities for Presbyterian youth and young adults and supports children-at-risk through ministries of the Presbyterian Mission Agency.
Since 1998,
Presbyterians of all ages have raised more than $14 million for these ministries that benefit younger members of God's family.
