Hi, HCA Family!
Mr. Hayward here
, filling in for my wife who is in Minneapolis nursing her elbow-plated sister back to a fuller functionality. She says its like a great big bubble out there. Mrs. Hayward had no idea about what has gone down in MA over the last (less than) 24 hours, i.e. a declared state of emergency, Governor Baker urging people not to travel unnecessarily, and colleges shutting down all over the Commonwealth.
Our staff is diligently monitoring these developments and we want to assure you that
our strategy is, "Prudence, not panic."
So we are
stepping up the washing and sanitizing of hands, the wiping down of desks and chairs with disinfectant
(we are using hydrogen peroxide), and - unfortunately - cancelling a number of previously scheduled events in keeping with the Governor's recommendation to
avoid large gatherings
(100 people). So...
- We are (very sadly) cancelling our trip to NYC on April 15. We are in plenty of time for full refunds which will be credited to your accounts.
- We are (even more sadly) canceling our Open House with Clare Walker Leslie for this coming Thursday, March 19. This would have been one of the highlights of the year (second only to the Chicago World's Fair!) for our school and surrounding community. We will make every effort to reschedule her for some future date.
Thank God we
have
God in times like these!
"Do not be afraid! Fear not!"
I haven't done the math, but I suspect that of all the things God has said to us in His Word, He has said this the most often! (Someone claims to have counted 365 times!) And why would that be? Because we need to keep hearing it!! Because we scare easily!!
And He would comfort us in our fear
. Not with the (false) assurance that nothing bad will happen, but rather
with the rock solid assurance of His strength, hope, joy, and love, whatever the circumstances
. So, dear HCA family, receive His comfort and peace as we walk through this scary time together.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,
Gary Hayward
