Dear Saint Andrew Catholic School Community,
What a great start to the school year we have had at SAS! The excitement and enthusiasm expressed by our students, faculty, staff, and parents as we returned to school is palpable and has made many hearts full! God is good!
Today, students and their homeroom teachers came together for their first Households meeting. As I mentioned in last week’s Welcome Back edition of the newsletter, time has been built into the schedule every Friday afternoon to allow students, along with their homeroom teachers, to come together as a “household” to pray, participate in Adoration and quarterly Households Mass, to read and discuss the Gospel that they will hear when they attend Mass on Sunday with their families, and to participate in other faith-enriching opportunities as a household community. It was wonderful to see students actively responding to the Gospel message through narration, drawing reflections, picture study, and creating prayer cards. We are looking forward to growing in our Catholic faith and closer to our Lord in Households and as a school community this year.
Thank you all for your patience as we work through the first couple days of Arrival and Dismissal procedures. The construction fencing and limited space has posed some additional challenges, particularly for our dismissal process. The safety of our students is of the utmost importance, and we will continue to assess the process and make adjustments/changes accordingly. Please remember, NO cell phone use while in car line. As well, parents please DO NOT get out of your car during morning drop-off or afternoon dismissal. Doing so slows our process and presents an additional safety concern. Faculty & staff are there to safely help your student(s) in and out of the vehicle. Of course, we will communicate any changes to the process as they occur.
Please see the information below regarding School Lunches. As a reminder, all school lunch order MUST be placed by 5:00PM the evening before. We do not have a cafeteria, so our food service group, Food 4 Life, is preparing food off site and delivering it to our campus. Therefore, they cannot make provide a lunch for those students who come to school without a lunch or whose parents did not pre-order. Of course, we will not let any student go hungry so going forward, Lunchables lunches will be available for those students who do not bring a lunch and the parent’s FACTS account will be billed accordingly.
A few reminders coming up next week:
- Sunday, August 15th--Solemnity of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary; Holy Day of Obligation
-
Kindergarten – 3rd Grade students & teachers will attend Mass on Mondays beginning next Monday, 8/16 @ 8:00AM. K – 3rd grade students should be in Mass uniforms.
- Picture Day, Wednesday, 8/18 – Mass uniforms please
- 4th – 8th Grade students & teachers will attend Mass on Wednesdays beginning next Wednesday, 8/18 @ 8:00AM
I pray you all have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to welcoming your students back on Monday!

Blessed Oil and Holy Water
|
|
Blessed Oil is now available in small vials at the church office for a donation of $4.00. Church office hours are Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm.
This ancient tradition of blessed oil is to be used in your home, similar to holy water. (This oil is not holy oil blessed by the Bishop for sacraments.) Use it to bless your loved ones or your door posts.
The church also has bottles of holy water for a donation of $3.00.
In these challenging times, sacramentals such as these may be a great source of comfort for those isolated at home. Proceeds benefit the Second Spring Campaign.
