Northern Machining, Inc.
Northern Machining, founded in 1986, is a machine/job shop located in Norfolk, NY. Northern Machining specializes in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) turning and milling, super finishing, welding and fabrication, grinding, inspecting, multitasking machining, and contract manufacturing and engineering. Not only can they meet virtually any machining demand, but they can also supply CAD drawings for various engineering projects.
Northern Machining strives to meet and exceed their customers’ expectations, and puts emphasis on quality. Some of their long term customers include Jefford’s Steel, Dresser-Rand, ALCOA, NuMed (medical instrument supplier), Brunnhoelzl Racing (supplies racing jacks and sockets to the Nascar racing circuit), Norsk Titanium, Corning, Mohawk Innovative, and Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials. This year, Northern Machining produced 1,000 shafts for another long term customer, Teknic, which were being used for assembling motors for ventilators that were being used on COVID-19 patients. The Northern Machining staff has also designed a unique self-centering tap wrench which has recently been voiced as a “go-to; gold standard” for one of their customers.
Despite a challenging year, Northern Machining made the decision to upgrade a CNC milling machine and a CNC tool room lathe. There are also plans to continue to upgrade older CNC equipment in the upcoming years to maintain quality parts at a lower cost, with advancements in new machine technologies.

Although Northern Machining has a nationwide customer reach, they take great pride in supporting our neighboring counties, and in-state customers. If you are interested in working with Northern Machining on your next project or contract, please visit their website or contact Chad Ashley, Production Manager, at (315) 384-3189 or via email nmi@northernmachininginc.com.
