Principal's Weekly Update

December 14, 2020. Issue 17
Dear Giant Families,

We are so proud of our Giant students who have made it to this last week of first semester!  Many thanks to all of our families who supported them along the way.  These past few months have required patience, understanding and great resiliency.  While there were certainly days that were tougher than others, we have come together as a community during this pandemic and found the strength needed to continue learning, growing and thriving.  The winter break provides us an opportunity to turn off screens, disconnect and unwind.  This is a time to be kind to yourself and others.
Please also keep in mind that the choices each of us makes affect those outside of our families.  Give the gift of doing your part to keep us all safe - stay home, maintain your distance, wash your hands, and wear your masks.

There’s nothing better than knowing you have made a difference and hearing someone else express gratitude for you.  Many students have creatively thanked their teachers this past semester during class.  However, if you are looking for a way to thank the HPHS staff, consider contributing to the video that will be shown at our all staff meeting on Friday 12/18.  Students, if you have 20 seconds to spare, click this link to record a message of thanks to our staff. We will need your recordings no later than Wednesday December 16 at 8:00 am.  Please pass this on to your friends and classmates so that we can give our staff a GIANT thank you on Friday.
AMERICAN MATH COMPETITION (AMC) TEST

Students, please use this link to sign up for this year’s online AMC test.  More information was shared in math classes this past week.  The 75 minute test will be held online on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 8:00 am.  Students must sign up by Tuesday, December 15, 2020.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Help us kick off another great year of Charity Drive!  More information coming soon, but apparel is open for purchase on the website.  They are not planning to purchase extras beyond what is ordered so make sure to get your order in by 12/18.   Students may also now sign up to perform for HP Idol, Comedy Night, and Poetry Night.  Students should use this link to sign up and learn about video submissions.
