From the Pastor
Dear friends,
Monday is Memorial Day. We remember and honor all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in giving their lives for our freedom. I’m especially grateful that we get to continue living in a land where we have freedom of religion. Remember that in many countries, Christians must worship secretly in basements for fear of jail or even death.
Today is also “Ascension of the Lord Sunday”, and we are reminded that Jesus made the
ultimate
sacrifice, suffering and dying for our freedom from sin. But Jesus defeated death and is alive! After his resurrection, he appeared to his disciples several times with final instructions before ascending to heaven…the day we celebrate today.
But in our sermon today, we’ll go back to his ministry where he had some profound things to teach us on the Sermon on the Mount. The way Jesus saw the world is truly upside-down from the way we usually see it through our worldly eyes. I pray it will open your eyes! Our service this morning includes inspiring music in Arthea Brimmer’s prelude and postlude, and God’s Word in Song, “Upon This Rock,” sung by our guest soloist, Ivy Peden.
To watch this week’s service, just click on the link down below. Our recorded format gives you the flexibility to tune in whenever it’s convenient for you! I think that most of the congregation is trying to watch Sunday morning at 10:15, me included, because it gives us a sense of being together, even if we are not physically together in the sanctuary. See you soon!
Love and blessings,
Pastor Nancy
