Family Garlic Mustard Tutorial
ISN's Habitat Management Specialist Fields Ratliff and family show us how it's done!
  • Now, pull it!
It's not too hard to pull this plant; one hand right at the base is usually enough.
  • Staying low is important--be sure to get the root! If it snaps off, like on the left in this photo, the plant can re-grow.
  • Bag it! Appropriate disposal is important for garlic mustard, because its seeds can mature even after the plant has been pulled.
  • Trash it! Send garlic mustard to the landfill or dispose of it in other responsible ways (see the list below for more ideas)
  • Play Clean Go and Work Clean Go! Make sure you, your pulling supplies, and your friends (including pets!) are free of dirt and seeds before going home or moving to another site. Check out this video for tips.
  • Report it! Whether you're using our dumpsters or not, we want to celebrate your stewardship! Please fill out this form to let us know about your hard work.
