SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
SEE YOU JUNE 2ND FOR OUR END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR EVENT!
Dear Lycée Community,

Today is the last day of instruction and it has never felt so quiet and uneventful. We miss the smiley faces, the hugs, the celebrations, the class parties, the packing and cleaning, the feelings of accomplishment and of a job well done, the anticipation for summer fun, the rush to the zoo for the end-of-year picnic, the comradery, the promises to keep in touch, to schedule visits with friends, and so much more! We really took all of this for granted, and we are reminded, once more, of how grateful we should always be for what we have.

We want to continue savoring the beauty and importance of these moments, however. We are One Lycée, and resilient till the end. Today, we are proud to celebrate our 8th graders on their promotion, and we will ‘see’ you on June 2nd for the end-of-year virtual celebration. Join us, and stay tuned for more details!

A final word of gratitude, dear staff and families, for your collaboration during the last months to ensure the continuity of Lycée high academic offerings. We will have a busy summer, working to develop safe and effective re-entry plans and a school year that will likely be re-imagined. I wish you a safe and healthy summer, and hope to really see you soon!

A Message from our PTO

Bonjour, Lycée Family!

The La Liaison team has been working with our administration on Teacher & Staff Appreciation. If there is anything that homeschooling has showed us (in case we didn’t know it already), it is that our teachers, school leaders, faculty and staff are HEROES. We are excited to announce the plan to celebrate our incredible school team and know you are too!

The “usual” Appreciation Week looks different in these unusual times. Be sure and read through each of the carefully thought out ways families can participate to show our love and support for each member of our LFNO team and family. With each activity and chance to participate, we ask that social distancing and guidelines for public gathering be respected. There are many members of our school community with pre-existing conditions who are most vulnerable. Please keep everyone safe.

In addition to the Appreciation we show our school, La Liaison is grateful to each homeschooling parent, grandparent, guardian, and friend who are making it possible for our children to continue their education during isolation. Merci beaucoup!

Student Environmental Awareness Arts & Language Contest Deadline Extended to June 15

The Louisiana Department of Education, in partnership with the Louisiana Environmental Education Commission (LEEC), today announced the submission deadline for the 2020 Student Environmental Awareness Arts and Language Arts Contest has been extended as a result of the ongoing public health crisis. All student entries should now be postmarked by June 15.

The contest, which this year features the theme "Take it Outside! Explore Nature's Classroom," invites all Louisiana students ages 5-18 to create works of visual and language arts that demonstrate the important role nature plays in education.

A panel of judges, including artists, biologists, teachers, and members of the greater environmental education community, will evaluate the works based on creativity and alignment to the theme. They will choose one winner from the visual arts category and one winner from the language arts categories for each of the following age groups:
Group 1: Contestants ages 5-7
Group 2: Contestants ages 8-10
Group 3: Contestants ages 11-13
Group 4: Contestants ages 14-18

Winners will be publicly announced in June 2020. First, second, and third place winners will receive a monetary prize of $200, $100 and $75, respectively, and be honored at a special event.

Winners will also be featured in the LEEC's 2021 calendar, which will be printed in the fall and distributed across the state and to the winners.
