Dear AUHSD Parents/Guardians and Students:

We continue our planning for the start of the school year which is just over 2 weeks away. Most notably, we have made revisions to the Distance Learning Schedule to better support teaching and learning. The draft is below and is pending Governing Board approval on August 5. The schedule has longer instructional blocks and fewer virtual cohort academies than the schedule previously approved by the Board.

Last week we asked for the submission of questions pertaining to the distance learning program that will begin on August 11 and received over 400 questions. We assembled the most common questions into this FAQ document. Given the nature of our planning, we will continue to update the FAQ documents as answers are refined.

Since our last update, CIF and NCS have made announcements regarding the postponement of fall sports. Here is a document showing the seasons of sport. This schedule will be revisited in the fall. NCS has determined that Summertime Rules are extended through the fall. So if health conditions permit, we can consider running after school sports camps in the fall like those permitted during the summer. More information regarding these programs will come from the schools.

We will provide an additional update by the end of next week.

Take care and stay well. I hope your family experiences some summertime moments of joy in the weeks to come.

Sincerely,

John Nickerson
