Issue #25| March2020

It has been a challenging few weeks, as the world reacts with uncertainty to the Coronavirus. Please know we miss seeing our Venturers, Changemakers and the staff at our partner schools. We hope you are staying safe and healthy! And we look forward to seeing you all again when this has passed.

We were sad (and we know you were, too) to have had to postpone our UWYV Spring Showcase . We were very much looking forward to hearing from our Changemaking Venture Teams. However, we have a new, cool plan for you! Since part of being a Venturer includes overcoming obstacles and finding solutions, we have an idea! If your Venture Team applied to showcase your Venture at the event, we would love it if you would create a video of what your Team is about (while still practicing social distancing, of course!). Post it to your social media profiles and we'll share it to all of ours so you can get the exposure and applause that you deserve. Get as creative as possible (sketch, commercial, Broadway musical, it's your call!).

Attention High School Venture Teams!! Want to take over our Instagram for a day? Let us know and we will give you the details about our #TakeOverThursday! This is a great way for younger Venturers (and non-Venturers) to see what life is like as a Venture from your point of view. Email us at UWYV@mwcc.mass.edu and we'll send you all the exciting details!

Congratulations to the eight Venture Teams that are our newest official United Way Youth Venture Teams, having presented their ideas before a Community Panel.

One very special Venture Team , the Fab 5 , was recently honored by their city's Board of Selectmen. Read more about their recognition, below.

As always, we appreciate you and thank you for your continued support!

The Fabulous Fab 5

We couldn't be more impressed and proud of this amazing Venture Team from Ayer Shirley Regional High School.

The Fab 5 were recently honored by the Ayer Board of Selectmen for their volunteer work at Apple Valley Center Nursing Home.

The Team hosts a party once each month for all of the Apple Valley residents on top of visiting various residents once every other week to keep them company. The students also host fundraising activities to buy toiletries and clothes for the residents of the nursing home.

Thank you, Gabby Holland, Leilani Harmon, Tyler Bolton, Claire Hefti, and Brianna Byron ! You make us proud!
