Day of Prayer, Fasting, and Works of Mercy: Thursday, May 14
|
|
Pope Francis has invited all Catholics to participate in a worldwide day of prayer, fasting, and works of mercy on Thursday, May 14, in union with people of many different religious traditions.
In observance of this day, the Cathedral will remain open for prayer from 8:00am until 5:00pm on May 14. In addition, you are invited to drop off donations to share with those most in need in designated spots inside the Cathedral.
**See the wish list below!**
In calling for this day of prayer, the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity, a group formed during Pope Francis’ visit to Abu Dhabi last year, said: “each one, from wherever they are and according to the teachings of their religion, faith, or sect, should appeal to God to lift this pandemic off us and the entire world, to rescue us all from this adversity.” Pope Francis has encouraged all Catholics to be part of this special day: “Because prayer is a universal value, I welcome the committee's call to believers of all faiths to be spiritually united on May 14, a day of prayer, fasting and charitable work, to pray to God to help humankind overcome the coronavirus pandemic.”
