As of May 20, at 11 a.m., Calhoun County has a cumulative total of 334 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported to Calhoun County Public Health Department (CCPHD), with a total of 20 deaths attributed to the virus.
Stay Safe This Weekend
The Calhoun County Joint Operations Center reminds residents to make smart and safe decisions during the long Memorial Day weekend. Although the Governor has allowed groups of 10 or fewer people, we encourage all residents to continue social distancing and stay home as much as possible. COVID-19 remains in our community: This week Calhoun County has over 30 additional positive cases and two additional deaths. We continue to see community spread, which means residents should assume the virus is in their immediate community and we should continue responsible hygiene practices to avoid continuous infection.
The CDC guidance remains,
- Stay at home unless you need essential items, like groceries or medications.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Wear a mask, or other cloth face covering, whenever you are in a public place.
- Practice social distancing by staying at least six feet away from people outside your household, when you are outside your home.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw that in the trash and wash your hands.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Clean and disinfect frequently-touched objects, like door knobs, light switches, and desk items.

As the governor's orders change, we
created this slideshow
about what activities we can enjoy this weekend and what we can learn from where the orders stand now. Starting Tuesday, May 26, retail businesses and auto dealerships can reopen by appointment only, and Friday, May 29, healthcare providers can offer non-essential medical, dental, and veterinary procedures.

Continue Supporting Local Businesses
We encourage anyone who is able to continue support our local businesses, countywide. There are a couple of ways to support restaurants through delivery and carryout options,
- EatsBC.com has an ever-expanding list of participating restaurants from which customers can order carryout and delivery, specifically in Battle Creek.
- A local Facebook group - The Carryout Club - is helping support local restaurants across the Calhoun County, allowing people to share positive experiences, menus, and more from those restaurants that are still operating.
Dog Park Reopening
The community-driven Home Run Dog Park will reopen next Friday, May 29. Please observe social distancing while you and your pets enjoy the park.
It is located at 800 E. Roosevelt Ave., Battle Creek, at the south edge of Bailey Park. Learn more at
