Church School Update
Jesus Returns to Heaven
Today we celebrate the Ascension of Jesus. The word ascension means "going up." In this story, Jesus goes up to heaven to be with God. After his resurrection, Jesus spent 40 days with his disciples explaining to them why it was important for him to be crucified and raised from the dead. He tells them to wait for the Holy Spirit and then to go out into the world spreading the good news of Jesus.

Watch the video above to hear the story of Jesus returning to heaven. Use the following questions from Children's Chapel leader Brett Rutledge to guide a discussion of the story:
  • What is the disciple Thomas know for? (Hint: We learned about him the week after Easter.)
  • Why was it hard for Thomas to believe that he knew the way?
  • What promise did Jesus make to the disciples?
Chick Spreads the Good News
Jesus tells us that one way to spread the word of Jesus is to show love for one another.

  • What are some ways that we show love others?
  • What are some ways that others show love for us?
  • How do we feel when someone is kind to us?
  • How do we feel when we do something special for someone else?

In the video above, our chick from last week's project has a new adventure - making food to share with others. Director of Children's Education Mary Beth Tipton explains how to make food out of homemade play dough. What kinds of food did you make for your chick picnic?

We miss seeing all of our Church School families and hope all of your are healthy and safe. Please reach out to us with any needs. CSMSG services are available daily via Facebook Live and the Sunday service is posted at csmsg.org by 10 am each Sunday.
