Principal's Message
November 07, 2019

Help us, dear God, to see your face in every
Veteran we encounter.
Guide us as we imagine new ways to support Veterans and their families.
Bring healing and peace to all who have been wounded physically, mentally and spiritually during wartime.
Help us bring your saving grace to heal the invisible wounds of war.
We ask this in Jesus' holy name. Amen .

Dear Parents,

As we observe Veterans Day on November 11, let us each take a moment to say the prayer above. Let us remember that freedom is not free and that so many have sacrificed so much for our country and for the greater good. In the spirit of patriotism, we have recently purchased a new American flag and a new Vatican flag for our school. I hope you will notice the flags prominently placed in our school lobby the next time you are here.

Our 2019 Walkathon was a huge success. The weather was beautiful, and the children enjoyed their time outdoors. Many thanks to all of the volunteers who helped to make the day a success. Our kindergarten class raised the most money for the Walkathon, and second grade had the highest rate of participation. Both classes will enjoy a pizza party to celebrate on December 6.

Tomorrow we will hold our All Saints Prayer Service at 8:30 in the church. We invite parents and community members to join us. If you cannot be present, be sure to check our SCSS Facebook page for pictures of this special event.

As temperatures begin to dip down into the 30s and 40s, please remember to dress children accordingly. Each day our students spend time outside for recess. Students who stay after school also spend time outside every afternoon. Jackets, hats and gloves are appropriate for the upcoming cold weather. Students should wear long pants. Girls should wear tights or black/navy leggings with skirts/jumpers.

First quarter report cards were sent home today. Please sign the report card envelope and return it to school so that we know you have reviewed the report card with your child. Teachers are looking forward to sharing your child's progress at conferences on November 14. Our annual Scholastic Book Fair will take place in the church basement November 12-13. Villarina's and Butterbraids pick-ups will take place on November 14 in the Family Center.

The SCSS Spirit Wear deadline has been extended to November 11. Please visit our website to place your order. Picture retakes will be on November 22. Forms will be sent home as soon as we receive them from the photographer.
