Dear Hillview Families,

We hope you are all well and surviving, if not thriving, during our community's Shelter in Place. With the announcement on March 25 that all Bay Area schools will stay closed through May 1, this means that our Distance Learning program will continue for 20 more days. See Hillview's March 27 Update here for more details on how our program is evolving. It's important that teachers, staff, students, and families keep up with teaching and learning while the campus is closed, and also that we do so in a way that is sustainable and accounts for the upheaval we are all experiencing. Grace and flexibility must continue to define our partnership.

Parents, if you haven't done so, please complete our Distance Learning survey here . Students can access their survey here

To review our Distance Learning protocols, see our Distance Learning webpage here . For feedback or questions about Distance Learning, please email here . Finally, if you would like to share your appreciation for our efforts, we encourage you to email teachers and staff directly, and/or to complete the form here

Enjoy some quality time together this Spring Break and process how we'll tackle the next phase of Distance Learning and Living - starting April 6. We miss you!

All the best,

Willy

Hello Hillview Families,

In the last few weeks it has become more apparent how important our Hillview community is and the importance of maintaining community. While we are in the midst of a challenging time that is taxing in many ways, we are also seeing people come together through Google Hangouts, Zoom, to support each other and help our schools remain fully functioning in a new age of distance learning. Thank you all for your thoughtfulness, support, and generosity during this time.

For those who are interested in helping our community through donations, we have compiled a list of local resources that are in need here. Mr. Burmeister has also included them in his communication. A nd a message from Grace Hassid, San Mateo County Infection Control Officer here . Next week, we would also like to highlight local businesses (many owned by families in our district) that can benefit from our support.

Finally, you can support our community by calling a friend, checking in on a neighbor or having a virtual playdate or meeting. Keep our community connected and fill your mind with positive light and make each day a little brighter.

It's important to show gratitude for what we have and who we have in our lives, family, friends, the people that help take care of us and inspire us. A HUGE SHOUT OUT to our AMAZING teachers for their heroic efforts in carrying out distance learning. We are in awe as you are juggling your own families as well.

Sending virtual love and laughter to all,

Your Hillview PTO Co-Presidents
Carolyn Kryger and Lil Perazich

Attendance
Parents and guardians,
Distance Learning will continue until May 1, so you must update your child's attendance . The first day to report an absence is April 6 and the last day will be April 16 as School Messenger will only allow you to report for 10 days at a time.

You may report attendance using several methods available on the Hillview website here .

If you use the SchoolMessenger App, follow these step-by-step directions:

  • Select Attendance under the drop down main menu
  • Select Report an Absence +, bottom of the screen
  • Select your Student’s name
  • Using the drop down menu select Multiple Day (instead of logging on each day)
  • Using the next drop down menu select Attending School through Distance Learning
  • On the next screen, select April 6, 2020 first day of absence (first day after Spring break)
  • Just below First Day, select April 16, 2020 as the last day of absence (accepts up to 10 days)
  • In the upper right hand corner, press Send (Return another day to add 10 more days)

Students must complete the assigned work if marked present. If your student is sick and not able to complete the assigned work, mark your student absent, identify the day as prompted, and use illness as the reason, following the same steps above.

MPAEF News
Dear MPCSD Parents,

MPAEF volunteer Board of Directors and staff would like to acknowledge and thank our many supporters for your generosity. We have been overwhelmed with your support of our auction event - whether it was through donating the price of your ticket when we had to cancel the party, donating an item for the auction, hosting a party, supporting this year’s fund-a-need or bidding for an item online. All of these small actions are meaningful to our team and will help ensure that the Foundation is able to meet it’s fundraising goals for this school year. From the bottom of our hearts - thank you!

Sincerely,
Katie Rottier and Sarah Thayer, MPAEF Co-Presidents
Alison Poirier, Maria Lehmkuhl, and Laura Low Ah Kee, MPAEF Auction Co-Chairs
