On Tuesday, March 3rd, the Middle Tennessee area encountered storms that produced tornadoes, which caused damage in Nashville and surrounding areas. Thankfully, the Dispensary of Hope distribution center was not damaged. The entire team at the Dispensary of Hope was overwhelmed by your support, in the form of emails and phone calls, checking in on us. Even across the country, your hearts were with us in Tennessee. Thank you to each of our Network sites, we appreciate your partnership, and more importantly, your friendship.

Site Visits in Birmingham, AL   spotlight

At the end of February, Dispensary of Hope Account Managers Kasey Gregory and Mary Olson visited several of our network partners in Birmingham, Alabama. While each of the three locations utilize the Dispensary of Hope program in different ways, it was inspiring to see the collective impact they have on their city.

The first stop was the Jefferson Health System pharmacy at Cooper Green Mercy Health Services near downtown. Despite the health organization's current time of transition, Pharmacy Manager Shaquita Pruitt is leading a thriving charity care program that is meeting the needs of thousands in her community.

Next, Mary and Kasey visited the pharmacy team at the Kirklin Clinic Pharmacy at UAB Hospital. With less than a year in the network, the pharmacy has seen exceptional growth in its Dispensary of Hope program. While the program has so far mainly focused on serving cardiac patients, the team intends to move into other areas of care soon, including diabetes and mental health. Most impressive is the level of communication between all care team members and the efficiency of their internal processes.

Kasey and Mary were later joined by Paul Mollo, PharmD, Ascension's National Director of Medications Outcomes Disparity as they visited Cahaba Medical Care at West End. Impressively, Cahaba Medical Care at West End offers more than just primary care and medication assistance. They also have a food pantry, clothing closet, and showers to help meet the full spectrum of their patients' needs.

The teams at each of the three visited locations are extremely compassionate, missional, and valued network partners. We are inspired and honored to support them in their incredibly impactful and important work!

During the recent visit to Birmingham, Alabama, the Dispensary of Hope team was able to participate in an annual community event, One Roof's Project Homeless Connect. This event is a community wide effort, where more than 60 local agencies come together to deliver healthcare, social, and support services to those who might not otherwise have access. Some of the services provided were general medical exams, dental, ophthalmology, podiatry, and pharmacy services (supported by the Dispensary of Hope). The event also included social services such as legal, housing, enrollment in Medicaid, Exchange, and VA benefits. The Dispensary of Hope is proud to support these community events, serving as volunteers as well as providing medication.
