Alvernia Dual-Credit Offerings
Once again Trinity has partnered with Alvernia University in Reading, Pennsylvania, to offer several upper level classes as dual-credit options. The following classes are designated as dual-credit classes for this year: Calculus (honors), Environmental Science, Anatomy and Physiology, Spanish 4 (honors), and Personal Finance.

Juniors and seniors in these classes will be given information in the first week of school about the registration process. This is a great way to earn college credits that are transferable to most major colleges and universities.

Shamrocks Who Shine
The College Board, which administers the PSAT and SAT among its activities, recognizes academic excellence through its National Recognition Programs. Students selected for these prestigious honors can cite it on their college and scholarship applications. In turn, colleges use the listing of these honors as a way of identifying students from underrepresented groups--i.e., ethnic minorities and/or those who attend school in rural areas or small towns--who have excelled on their PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, or AP Exams and in their classwork. Congratulations to the following Trinity students who earned recognition in the following areas:
  • College Board National Indigenous Recognition Program Scholar: Antonio Centenera '24 (Loyola House)
  • College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars: Antonio Centenera '24 (Loyola House) and Isabela Wilson '22 (De La Salle House)
  • College Board National African American Recognition Program Scholars: Isabella Mirarchi '23 (De La Salle House) and Julian Gabbidon '22 (Seton House)

Spiritual Reflection
by Deacon Scott Root
Gospel for Sunday, September 5, 2021--The 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Again Jesus left the district of Tyre and went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, into the district of the Decapolis. And people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment and begged him to lay his hand on him. He took him off by himself away from the crowd. He put his finger into the man's ears and, spitting, touched his tongue; then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him, 'Ephphatha!"--that is, "Be opened!"--And immediately the man’s ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly. He ordered them not to tell anyone. But the more he ordered them not to, the more they proclaimed it. They were exceedingly astonished and they said, "He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak."--Mark 7:31-37

Reflection
"Ephphatha!"--that is, "Be opened!" Jesus is calling us to be open to the Father's will in our lives. We must open our hearts, our minds, and our lives to Jesus' call. To be truly Christian, we must love God and our neighbor. Let us pray to be open to God’s love and the need of our neighbors always.
Start Strong, Stay Strong
Prayer for the Week
O God, by whom we are redeemed and receive adoption, look graciously upon your beloved sons and daughters, that those who believe in Christ may receive true freedom and an everlasting inheritance. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
