Ways to Get More Involved
Besides voting in November, there are many ways you can and should be a more active participant in the electoral process. Here as some suggestions:
- Volunteer in the campaign of a candidate you support
- Contribute financially to your candidate
- Talk to your family, friends, and co-workers about the election
- Write a letter to the editor
- Post something on Facebook or other social media
- Get involved with a group active in the electoral process like League of Women Voters, NETWORK...
- Put a campaign sign in your yard
- Attend a political rally (hopefully we will be able to have rallies safely prior to the election)

SOME MORE OPPORTUNITIES
As we hunker down in our homes, many of us are wondering how best to respond to this enforced isolation and social distancing. How can we use our time most productively?
The
MSJC Steering Committee has joined many other national Catholic religious groups and organizations
calling on Congress for a just and environmentally sustainable response to the coronavirus pandemic. You can read that letter here.
Here
are three other actions to consider:
1. Participate in a Marianist Digital Retreat for a Pandemic
 An all-new online retreat has been created for the entire Marianist Family! This retreat can be completed on your own and at your own pace, but we encourage small groups to make the retreat together by gathering virtually to share in discussion, reflection, and prayer.
The retreat is split into four modules, each of which takes about 20 minutes. To get the most out of the retreat, you might want to break up the different sections of each module to reflect on throughout the day. You could experience one module per day or take a few days for each module. To a

2. Help to Insure We Have Fair Elections Despite the Pandemic
 We are only a few months away from the 2020 election, yet, due to COVID-19, we are incredibly unprepared to ensure a safe, accessible, and secure 2020 election.
The Senate is back in session now and they are working on a fourth comprehensive, emergency COVID-19 funding package. Now is the time to urge your Senators to fund election security and protect our democracy in the 2020 election.
The Faithful Democracy Coalition
created a list of funding priorities for Congress, including $4 billion for the Election Assistance Commission to make available:
- No-excuse absentee voting with prepaid postage
- Extended voter registration period with 15 days of early voting
- Same-day voter registration and online voter registration
- Election contingency plans to protect the health and safety of all poll workers and voters who cannot vote absentee
 Call your Senators today at 1-888-738-3058. Urge them to support $4 billion for
comprehensive election security funding in the next COVID-19 emergency package.
3. Support Those Most at Risk of COVID-19 
Sign this letter
from NETWORK
urging Congress to release vulnerable inmates and detainees. Call
on Congressional leaders to reduce the number of people who are incarcerated or detained and at risk of COVID-19 and to provide them with access to economic and social supports during this pandemic. Remember that immigrant detainees have not committed any crime. Please add your name to this letter.

Mutual Aid & Restorative Justice
is a new group that works with survivors of violence, trauma, crime, and with currently and formerly incarcerated people. It was established to help build community during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond and
provides online check-in circles for the formerly incarcerated.

We will not go back to normal. Normal never was. Our pre-corona existence was not normal other than we normalized greed, inequity, exhaustion, depletion, extraction, disconnection, confusion, rage, hoarding, hate and lack. We should not long to return, my friends. We are being given the opportunity to stitch a new garment. One that fits all of humanity and nature.
