Issue 10
Dear Friends,

The pandemic has brought many challenges for individuals and families worldwide, including job and housing instability, care-taking concerns, and food and financial insecurity. Fortunately, there is some relief for many in the United States, but for the majority of undocumented immigrants, access to those resources is limited or completely non-accessible.

Nearly 6 million immigrant workers are on the front lines as essential workers and another 6 million work in industries that have been hit hard by the pandemic resulting in mass layoffs (1) . Many barriers for undocumented immigrants in the U.S. include high-risk exposure due to poor living or work situations, limited or no access to health care resulting in the inaccessibility for COVID-19 testing and treatment, loss of income as well as ineligibility for unemployment, and other government financial relief (2) .

As a community, we must work together to spread awareness of these issues and share resources available. The state of California has created the Disaster Relief Assistance for Immigrants (DRAI) project, which provides financial relief assistance for undocumented immigrants who have been impacted by COVID-19. Visit the website here to find out how to apply.

Davis Street's Clinic is open to all regardless of immigration status and ability to pay, accepting various insurances, and offers a sliding fee discount scale for uninsured individuals or if laid off during shelter-in-place. Eligibility for our Basic Needs Food Pantry and childcare bases on the Federal low-income poverty level parameters. Davis Street is here to support ALL individuals and families in need especially during these difficult times. Please help us by sharing our message.
