FEAR NOT
We shall resume our study of the Gifts of the Spirit tomorrow with the gift of faith, but for now I wish to address the spirit of fear.
Because of the present COVID-19 pandemic, there has been much fear and distress worldwide. There is also fear of the “new normal” and the unknown factors it will bring. There may be things coming far worse than this corona virus pandemic. The disrupted food supply chain may bring a genuine famine to our country. A pandemic far worse than this one may soon follow.
Many fear that this will allow the governments to seize more power over people in a coordinated effort to bring about a “global community.” Biblically, this could mean the “new world order” which would set the stage for the Anti-Christ.
As true believers of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are not to fear. Psalm 91 tells us that the Lord is our refuge, our “safety net” in time of trouble. Jesus said in Luke 12:6-7
“are not five sparrows sold (for a sacrifice) …and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. FEAR NOT, therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows.”
When we place our trust in the Lord wholeheartedly, we have nothing to fear. In faith trust Him and He will care for you. There is no faith in fear, and there is no fear in faith.
For whatever may or may not come upon us, wisdom says we should prepare both in the spirit and in the natural. Preparation does not mean a lack of faith, nor is it an expression of fear. It is simply a wise thing to prepare. If famine might come, it is wise to stock non-perishable food. It is also wise to build your faith through reading the Word of God. Prepare in the natural and prepare in the spirit. Faith, not fear.
