"Mike always came through for us, and on many occasions when we were short-handed, he would put in those extra few hours to help when he could," said Coughlin. " Mike volunteered his time many times over the years to come in and gas up all of the trolleys so they were ready to go."
Mayhugh is the granddaughter of the last working Keeper of the Cape May Lighthouse: Harry Palmer. Mayhugh, like her grandfather, has a great love of the lighthouse.

My mom’s family roots go deep here," Mayhugh said, "all the way back to the county beginning. As a lover of family history and history in general it makes this move very hard.
My dad’s side came over in the 1920s when my grandfather was transferred from Cape Henlopen and served his remaining years in the Lighthouse Service as Head Keeper of the Cape May Light. My dad and uncle entered the Life Saving Service, which became the Coast Guard. He met my mother while stationed at Hereford Inlet."
Mayhugh began as a Lighthouse Keeper Interpreter when her neighbor suggested it to her.
