President's Messages
Dear CTGCSA Members,

Well we have made it through an El NiƱo winter, not as rainy or cold as we thought, but it was a nice break from the drought and heat that we all have grown accustomed to.  First let me thank our annual sponsors for getting this year off to a great start.  We are at 30+ annual members, a new high, and I am very excited about this upcoming year.  We got off to a great start with our Education meeting at Cabela's in January.  For those of you who attended, Thank you.  For those of you who were not able to attend you missed out on some great information that was shared.

Our second event, and arguably the most important for our association, was the Turf Day/Legacy Scholarship event held at The Bandit Golf Club.  This event raised over $12,000.  It was an awesome event highlighted by some great golf at a great golf course.

Our next event, The McClure Match Play championship will be held at River Crossing Golf Club.  This event is a spinoff of what used to be our North/South Cup.  Much like the civil war united the whole country, this event is no longer going to be divided into North vs. South.  We will take the whole field of registered players and our captains will pick their teams before heading into battle.  Matt Cowan and Bruce Burger will be our inaugural captains.  They will pick their teams and the matches they would like most like to see played out on the great River Crossing club.  Please take a moment, after reading this newsletter, to register at www.CTGCSA.com for this event.  In June we will host the Superintendent Championship at The Club at Sonterra North Course.  Please make plans to attend these upcoming events.

I would be remissed if I did not mention our own CTGCSA member Bobby Stringer.  Bobby and his staff and very important volunteers just hosted the Dell Match Play Championships.  How cool was it to see an outstanding condition golf course on television seen around the world.  Congratulations Bobby and staff.

I would like to conclude this letter with best wishes to everyone as we prepare for the long and sometimes brutal summer ahead.  I know it gets tough with the long days and demands placed on us but remember we are all in this together.  I look forward to seeing everyone soon.

Best Regards,
Donny C. Latham

Participants enjoyed a delicious burger buffet provided by the great staff at The Bandit. Nobody went away hungry especially if they tried the brownies.
Brad Christensen poses for the camera before hitting the links. Brad is new to the Central Texas area and works for Turf Care of Texas. He is the former Superintendent at The Tribute Golf Club in the DFW area. If you know him on Facebook, you know he has made the tours of the finest Central Texas wineries.....several times. Say hello next time you see Brad.

Don Vann of Osburne Materials and Jason Kelly of Delaware Springs. Jason has recently accepted the Superintendent position at Corpus Christi Country Club and will soon be leaving the Central Texas region. Booooooo! Good luck Jason. We hate to see you go but we are very happy for your opportunity in Corpus. Don't be a stranger.
Thanks to Steiner and Tyler Dickey for being a sponsor and displaying your equipment on the golf course. Looks like a great piece of equipment and we're glad you brought your helper to keep you company.
One of a kind Dale Miller, shows off his Aggie spirit. Dale has been around longer than E. King Gill himself. Way to go Old Army!
Jason Donaldson and his son Jaxon took advantage of Spring Break and made it a fun father and son day. Jaxon was a good caddy but not enough to get his dad and his partners into the money. Too bad guys maybe next time.
Thank you Professional Turf Products for being an Annual Sponsor and displaying products on the course. Your continued support is key to having great events like this.
Matthew Oldham of E-Z-Go and Ed Miller of Foresight Golf enjoying their round at The Bandit. Mr. Miller was one of our gracious hosts that day along with the entire Bandit staff. Matthew is the sales rep for E-Z-Go.

Paul Hagy and Dennis Klene of Texas Sports Sands put on a great demonstration of their special bunker sand. It was an interesting demonstration. Thanks for being with us on this special day.
Larry Snody and Barry Larson chilling on the newest Jacobsen truckster. Thanks for coming out guys. A little close to the tee? JK
Scott Sipes with All Seasons Turf was very proud of his two pallet delivery trailer. Need grass? Call Scott and Irene and they would love to come see you.

Bruce Allen, Rod Hruza, Aaron Krause and Jake Snyman won 3rd place with a 56. That was just one shot off the tied 1st and 2nd place scores. Way to shoot guys.
Jay Hill, Jeff Kadlec, Donny Latham and Troy Brown (not pictured) take 2nd place in a scorecard playoff. Donny....don't forget to give Troy his winnings!
Our champions for the day was a pretty stacked team. Congratulations Jared Heine, John Daniels, Dillion Orsag and Matt Cowan. It's hard not to win with Matt Cowan on your team.
The scoreboard says it all. Lots of winners for the day but the real winners were the future recipients of the CTGCSA Legacy Scholarships. Great job members!
