New Village Manager Gregory Jackson Sworn Into Office
New Village Manager Gregory (Greg) G. Jackson was officially sworn into office by Village President Bill Jacob at the July 13 Board meeting, which was the first in-person meeting held at Village Hall since the pandemic shut-down, and also broadcast live on Zoom. The Village Board made the appointment of Village Manager Jackson in early June after a nationwide search, and July 6 was his first working day in this crucial leadership role for Long Grove.
Village Seeks Input on July 3 Patriotic Concert

Updated Public Attendance Policy for Village Meetings
Meetings at Village Hall are now accessible to a limited number of individuals to attend in person for those who have pre-registered, which is on a first-come, first-served basis. Those wishing to attend in-person can pre-register by emailing Village Manager Jackson or calling 847-634-9440 prior to 10 a.m. the day of the meeting. Public access to Village meetings will also continue to be available via Zoom. Information on participating in future Village meetings and meeting details can be found here.
Enhancements Added to Stempel Parking Lot Project
At the July 13 Board meeting, the Village approved additional work to install conduit for electric vehicle charging stations at Stempel Parking Lot and widen to enable two-way traffic at the two entrances that are currently one-way. The base project was approved in June to replace the lot’s existing asphalt, resurface it and remove existing interior landscaped islands to increase the number of parking spots. The project is expected to cost the Village $453,000, and a $200,000 State grant was secured to help cover the project. Construction is set to begin in a few weeks.
Kent Tinucci Appointed as New Village Trustee
Kent Tinucci, outgoing President of the Long Grove Park District (LGPD), was appointed as a Village Trustee at the July 13 Village Board meeting, and will fulfill the remaining two years of the four-year term previously held by former Trustee Chuck Nora. Trustee Tinucci earned a B.S. in Electronics Engineering from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A. from Loyola University Chicago, and has served as the LGPD President since 2018, where he oversaw significant improvements to Park District properties and other notable accomplishments. He was employed for 27 years at Motorola in senior engineering and management roles. From 2002 - 2015, he also owned and managed MDC Insurance Agency. Trustee Tinucci brings his experience in community service to the Village, along with his analytical and teamwork skills, and a focus on producing measurable results.
Village Honors Departing Commissioner Smith,
Appoints Incoming Chairperson Burger to Head CSCC
The Village Board recognized Commissioner Kelley Smith for his 23 years of service as a member and Chairman of the Conservancy Scenic Corridor Committee (CSCC). During his tenure, Commissioner Smith demonstrated great knowledge and devotion to the CSCC, working to improve relationships with developers, homeowners associations and the community in caring for and enhancing the natural areas within the Village. The Village thanks Commissioner Smith for his significant contributions to Long Grove and offers him well wishes in his future endeavors.

Jeanette Burger has been appointed to replace Commissioner Smith as CSCC Chairperson. Ms. Burger is focused on improving the use of native landscapes in the community, and her community service includes volunteering for the Lake County Forest Preserve District and Citizens for Conservation. She is also a Master Naturalist, Master Gardener and retired chemist. The Village congratulates and welcomes Ms. Burger to her new chairperson role on the CSCC.
Fundraiser Benefiting Special Olympics Illinois July 25
Support Special Olympics Illinois at the upcoming Cars and Cigars fundraiser on Sunday, July 25 in beautiful, historic downtown Long Grove! Sponsored by the Village of Kildeer Police Department and Neumann's Cigars & More to benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois, the event will include a car show, raffles, a silent auction and more! Special Olympics Illinois is a not-for-profit organization that supports intellectually disabled athletes and provides sports coaching, training and competition. Sixth-Annual Downtown Vintage Days August 7 - 8 
What’s old is new again as the Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association presents Vintage Days 2021 on Saturday, August 7 and Sunday, August 8. Connoisseurs can find all things vintage with vendors showcasing their unique items in an open-air marketplace. Vintage Days gives everyone from the vintage collector to the vintage admirer enduring products that are hard to find anyplace else. The hometown event will also feature classic summertime fun, including pony rides, nine holes of miniature golf set up at various merchants, food and beverages, and live music on several stages with sounds from the past to today. The Long Grove Historical Society will host the inauguration of the first Dog Mayor of Long Grove on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and a Penny Carnival on Sunday at noon. There is no admission for entry or parking and all attendees are encouraged to stay and explore the newly renovated historic downtown Long Grove.
