A Special Message from the Economic Development Manager:
COVID-19 Reopening Status Update for Retail and Manufacturers
*NOTE: This message is being distributed to all Thousand Oaks business license holders. This message does not confirm your eligibility to reopen. Please review the State and County updated directives. More information is provided below.
Greetings Thousand Oaks business community,

Yesterday (May 20th), the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) approved the County of Ventura’s appeal to move forward on an accelerated Stage 2 path to reopening. With this approval, Ventura County restaurants can now offer dine-in options and all retail businesses with exterior facing entrances are permitted to have customers inside of their stores.  Read the County’s Press Release here .

This comes just two weeks after Governor Newsom announced the state’s initial transition into Stage 2 of  California’s Roadmap to Reopening , which authorized retail businesses (curbside pick-up only) and supply chain manufacturers to begin safely reopening with modifications that reduce risk and establish a safer environment for workers and customers.

The County of Ventura has amended its  “Stay Well VC: Safely Reopening Ventura County”    Public Health Order to reflect the state’s approval for the County to move forward on an accelerated State 2 path. The amended Order also outlines the process for eligible businesses to reopen. This process consists of three primary steps:

  • All businesses must establish, implement and enforce a site-specific prevention plan in accordance with the State of California COVID-19 industry or workplace-specific guidance and associated checklist found at https://covid19.ca.gov/roadmap/. (Guidance and checklists for accelerated Stage 2 business types can be found on the County by County page here: https://covid19.ca.gov/roadmap-counties/ )

  • As a condition of operation, each business must post a written notice explaining how it will comply with Social Distancing Requirements in conspicuous places where it can easily be seen by employees and patrons of the business facility.

Every business is strongly encouraged to read the  County's full amended Order . If you have any questions, please direct them to their COVID-19 Business Compliance Hotline: (805) 202-1805 or  covidcompliance@ventura.org .

The City and our residents look forward to welcoming you back.

Sincerely,

Haider Alawami, Economic Development Manager
