A LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL

I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer and spending time with family and friends. We have enjoyed getting ready for the school year and we’re excited to make this year a great year for everyone.

I want to update everyone on the staff changes that occurred this summer. Since I’ve moved into the principal position, we have welcomed Mr. Tony Harden as our new Development Director. He will teach two accounting classes this year as well. Mr. Ron Verst has accepted the position of Athletic Director. Mr. Verst will also continue as our freshman religion teacher and head baseball coach. We have two new members of our staff: Mrs. Rachel Grimm will be teaching junior and senior English, and Ms. Jennifer Tallarigo will be teaching junior religion this year. Brossart is blessed with a wonderful staff and both Mrs. Grimm and Ms. Tallarigo will be great additions. In addition to the teaching staff, we also welcome Mrs. Ana Orth to the staff as the Director of our Drama Club. Mrs. Orth along with Ms. Stephanie Ritter have directed our senior class play and they will continue in that role this year as well.

I shared the letter from Mrs. McGuire, our superintendent, in regards to our Covid-19 protocols. The health and wellness of our students is always at the top of our priorities. We will support families who choose to wear a mask, as that may be necessary for some families and we all have different health concerns. We will also, whenever possible, maintain a minimum of three feet of social distance in our classrooms. We will monitor the situation to see if any adjustments are needed. This pandemic has been a struggle for all and hopefully the major adjustments we have had to make will remain behind us. However, as we all know, we may have to make changes as we move forward. I will communicate any changes or adjustments needed with you as soon as those decisions are made. We appreciate your support as we work together to make this school year safe and supportive for us all.

In closing, I am honored to be serving in the role of principal of Bishop Brossart. I love being here everyday with our students and staff. When I was much younger, I did not know the path my career would have taken and being the principal here was never on my radar; but clearly the Lord had a plan for me and he wanted me here. I am excited to work with all our families to have the best year possible.

If you ever have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to me so we can find the answers together.

Go Mustangs!!

God Bless,
Chris Holtz

BBHS Counselor’s Corner – Mrs. Steffen

Welcome Back! Praying that everyone has had plenty of time to rest and get ready for the new school year.

Seniors – Hopefully, you have been able to visit some colleges and universities that were open for campus visits this summer. Admissions counselors from different schools will be coming in to meet with students as well. I will schedule these visits and students will be able to sign up accordingly.
I am also happy to meet with families one on one to discuss the college application process. Please feel free to email me to set up a day and time to meet.

Senior College Information Night for Parents – Sunday, August 29th @ 6:30 pm. I will discuss the college application process, admission requirements, scholarship opportunities, financial aid opportunities, ACT/SAT, application deadlines and more. In order to avoid conflicts with fall sports and other activities, Sunday evening proves to be the best day to hold this meeting.

ACT – Seniors will be able to opt-in to take the Senior District Choice ACT on October 5, 2021. For those who have chosen to take this, Mrs. Steffen will take care of registration. Sign ups will take place when we return to school. For all other ACT tests, students will have to register themselves through their myACT account.

Juniors – This is an exciting year for you! We will spend time this year researching colleges and exploring career options and understanding the opportunities for your post-secondary plans.

ACT – Juniors will take the Junior District Choice ACT in the spring of 2022. Mrs. Steffen will take care of registration. If you are interested in taking the ACT beforehand, please visit www.act.org and create your account. From there you can register for the ACT.
You will also take the PRACTICE ACT on October 5th. No registration is required for this test.

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT) is a standardized test administered by the College Board and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in the United States.

Sophomores will take the Pre ACT on October 5th. More information will come as the date gets closer. We will also continue talking about different college and career paths and research different college and career opportunities.
