Thank you to Carl Harris for this rendering of our beloved museum.

Mr. Harris picked up glass etching as a hobby in retirement. You can view an exhibit of his work that was displayed at the Charles County Commissioners Gallery.
|

Carl Harris has a place in Annapolis history as one of the first African American students to attend Germantown Elementary School. The year was 1956. He recently donated an etching of the building to the school.

"Hitch hikers" is the nickname given to seeds that stick to animal fur and to your clothes, especially this time of year. The seeds get a free ride to a new location in which to sprout and grow.
Hitchhikers were the inspiration for velcro - which gets its name from "velvet" for the furry side, and "crochet" for the scratchy side.
