Action Highlights: Justice for Ahmaud and Protect Farmworkers
Justice for Ahmaud Arbery
On February 23, 2020, 25 year-old Ahmaud Arbery was out for his regular run when he was chased and gunned down by two white men, a son and his father (who is retired investigator). This is yet again another example of an innocent, unarmed black man having his life violently taken from him.

On May 7, three months after his death, the two men who shot and killed Ahmaud were finally arrested after nation-wide fury surfaced due to the release of video footage that showed his murder. Although they have been arrested, that doesn't guarantee that justice will be served.

No one has the right to pursue, attack and kill an unarmed individual. Ahmaud’s voice will be heard and he deserves justice.

Please, in effort to seek justice, sign the petition expressing your concern.

The White House and the Department of Agriculture plan to slash wages for farmworkers here on the guest worker program. The goal: drive down pay for the essential farmworkers instead of safeguarding workers and farmers.

Farmworkers have been deemed essential workers, and are at especially high risk during this time of crisis. Farmworkers regularly suffer from substandard housing, poverty wages and little to no legal protections. An estimated 50% of farmworkers are undocumented, facing the added risks of detention and deportation. Daily job hazards such as pesticide exposure on conventional farms put farmworkers at higher risks for respiratory illnesses and make COVID-19 related illness even worse.

Farmworkers and other workers in the food chain need  additional support , not reduced pay. Farmworker organizations are demanding functional personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as a living wage, hazard pay, overtime, and sick leave.
