Time to register for First Communion preparation! Families: do you have a child who will enter 2nd grade this fall? Or, do you have an older child who has not yet had the opportunity to prepare for the sacrament? If you are registered in the parish and have listed your child as a family member, you should receive a letter with a registration form the week of July 20th. If you don't receive a letter, you can access the registration form on our website, or click here.
Questions? Contact Julia Rudden [email protected]
Baptism Update!
We are currently scheduling family (private) baptisms for our families. Since we do not know when we will be able to gather in community, we want to make sure that the children of our parish are able to enter the church by receiving the sacrament of baptism. Questions? Please contact Julia Rudden at [email protected]
Father will be offering Reconciliation by appointment on
Saturdays from 4 to 4:45pm .  Please email Sheila Marty at  [email protected]  or call her at 206-782-2810 ext 358 to arrange an appointment.  (You do not need to leave your name, we just need to know how many people are coming.)

We have modified the space for Reconciliations to allow for appropriate air flow, social distance, and sanitation. Reconciliation will take place with a draped screen between you and Father for everyone's safety.  Please enter through the side doors, wear a mask, use the hand sanitizer or wipes that are provided, and practice social distancing.   Please sit in the back pews of the church until Father is ready for you.   Thank you!
Now is the Time to Serve Our Community! Jesuit Volunteer EnCorps , a program of JVC Northwest, facilitates rewarding opportunities for service, community and spiritual formation for adults 50 and better who are committed to social and ecological justice. We are offering new ways for our members (JVEs) to serve from home during this time of increased need for those who live on the margins. JVEs meet monthly online or in-person, creating spiritual community while staying safe. Our values arise from the Catholic Ignatian tradition and JV Encorps is an inclusive and welcoming community.

Priority application deadline: August 31st.
Opening Retreat in September. For more information visit: www.jvencorps.org

Laudato Si in Action

Translating our Faith into Actions

In Chapter 6 of Laudato Si, Pope Francis tells us that while environmental laws and regulations, are important, they are not enough:

The existence of laws and regulations is insufficient in the long run to curb bad conduct, even when effective means of enforcement are present. If the laws are to bring about significant, long-lasting effects, the majority of the members of society must be adequately motivated to accept them, and personally transformed to respond.

No, we also need each of us to take individual actions:

Only by cultivating sound virtues will people be able to make a selfless ecological commitment. A person who could afford to spend and consume more but regularly uses less heating and wears warmer clothes, shows the kind of convictions and attitudes which help to protect the environment. There is a nobility in the duty to care for creation through little daily actions, and it is wonderful how education can bring about real changes in lifestyle...Reusing something instead of immediately discarding it, when done for the right reasons, can be an act of love which expresses our own dignity.

In his powerful homily of July 11th, Father Crispin told us:

Faith must be translated into deeds; into actions. Faith must move us to take steps.
