Sunday Readings and Music

The Readings for this Sunday
In our first lesson Wisdom is an attribute of God present from the beginning of the ages and before the creation. She delights in the human race, and strives to bring all people to insight and understanding.
The psalmist glorifies the Lord, sovereign of the earth and the magnificent heavens, who has made human life to have mastery over all other earthly creatures.
.
In this reading Paul bids disciples to rejoice in the reconciliation and hope which are theirs because of the sacrifice of Christ on behalf of sinners. Through faith we have justification; we are given a right relationship to God. Now even our sufferings can lead to endurance, and this to a perseverance which strengthens our hope, poured into our hearts as a gift of the Holy Spirit given to us.
In our gospel Jesus promises to his disciples the gift of the Holy Spirit who will guide them into all truth. The Spirit will make known things that are to come, and will glorify Jesus in that everything declared by the Spirit will be received from Jesus. All that the Father has belongs to Jesus. The Spirit, then, reveals Jesus, who himself has made the Father known.

Collect for Sunday
Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Your gift to St. Hugh's makes a difference. It allows us to be open so that "
all who seek you [God] here may find you, and be filled with your joy and peace."
It is always the right time. Donate to the mission and ministry of St. Hugh's. Your gifts--of time, talent, and treasure--make it possible to be present in Idyllwild so that we can both invite and then "enable questioning, open-minded people to discover for themselves, the significance of Jesus Christ."

Can You Make Your Church a Beneficiary of Your IRA?
BY MARK KENNAN
If you've planned well enough that you'll have money remaining in your individual retirement arrangement when you pass, you can decide who will receive the account after your death. Leaving the IRA to your church is not only possible, but it also has a number of potential tax benefits for both your estate and your heirs.
Consider naming St. Hugh's as your beneficiary.
Thank you Merrie for finding this information. ~Fr. Dan
