Dear Panther Parents,
We miss our kiddos!!! Please let them know that we are thinking about them and hoping everyone is staying safe and healthy. Our teachers are SO excited to start teaching again on Monday. They have been working really hard to provide solid, engaging lessons that are still simple to maneuver. Let's take this slow and show patience and grace for one another as we figure this out together. We have also put some things in place to make life for you guys as easy and doable as possible. One of those things is that teachers are not going to be sending you tons of emails over the weekend or on Monday. That can get overwhelming! So here is what will happen: Monday morning, your kiddos will hop on Canvas, look at each subject, use their agenda planner to jot down notes for what is expected in each class, and then get to work. Let's use this opportunity to empower our children to navigate this new world of learning. Your support and guidance is great, but let's not do all the work for them. We will all grow and stretch from this adventure!
You will access most communication through
CANVAS
(active link embedded). Each teacher has an Instructional Plan on their home page of Canvas. There you will find everything you and your child needs to know for the week. Please encourage your child to login to Canvas this weekend so that Monday morning will be smooth sailing. If you would like to glance at the work that lies ahead for your kiddo, you can also access Canvas as an Observer (same login as your HAC acct). But don't get ahead of yourself, the lessons will not be completely ready until MONDAY morning at 8:00 am. Please don't go in early and then get frustrated when you don't find what you need, links don't work, etc. Below is a link to a one-pager that gives very simple instructions on how to use the Canvas site. Stay calm and Canvas on

.
If your child is experiencing issues with technology, please see the instructions below:
Student Support
- If a student needs help during this time, we ask that they email [email protected].
- Students should email their name, student id, campus, telephone number and a detailed description of the problem.
- Technology Staff will strive to support the students over the phone or by remote control.
- For Parent HAC accounts, where they don't know their username and/or password, please forward those emails to Paula Lough at [email protected] or [email protected]. It is best if the email contains the name of their campus if using the second email.
We know everyone is looking for some normalcy right now, but for now, this is our new normal. Let's embrace it together and remember...it takes a village. There is no better village than the Panther village! We appreciate your understanding, patience, grace, and excitement for the awesome things coming your way next week. And as always, I am here if you need me.
Please read the message from our School Nurse below.

IMPORTANT UPCOMING ELECTION INFORMATION
|
We want to make you aware of an important election taking place on May 2 called an "attendance credit election." Basically, this ballot item asks McKinney residents to vote "for" or "against" the method MISD uses to make mandatory payments to the state under a law commonly referred to as the Robin Hood law. If the measure passes, MISD will be authorized to continue making its mandatory payments using the most cost-effective method, known as "purchasing attendance credits" - the method that it has used since 2014-15. If the measure does not pass, the state will be authorized to detach $2.3 billion of taxable McKinney property and send that tax revenue to another district. That detachment of property could likely be permanent and in the coming years would impact MISD programs.
