We are living in a time in each of our lives where their are so many unknowns and where their is much on on the line. A mass pandemic, systematic racism and violence, protest over human and civil rights, and the upcoming 2020 presidential election this November -- so much is at stake! How can we keep our faith in these times? How does our faith call us to respond in times such as these? Is love the answer? Join us and explore some hard topics as we work together to build the beloved community that we all seek.
Roddy Biggs (he/him, they/them) is an East Tennessee native who lives in Middle Tennessee with his partners. New Book Discussion Coming in August
Join us on
August 6 and 13 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom to discuss Dr. Joy DeGruy's book
Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome: America's Legacy of Enduring Injury and Healing. This book examines the history, science, and adaptive behaviors that evolved to hold the traumatic experience of slavery in place for hundreds of years, and how those attitudes and behaviors are still with us today. The book also provides practical tools to help transform negative attitudes and behaviors into positive ones. The discussion will include the ideas presented in the book, and how we might implement them in our daily lives. Discussion be
facilitated by Summer Peters and Sally Locklear.
This book is in high demand, so if you think you might be interested, we suggest ordering a copy now. Alternatively, we have several hard copies to share, so
contact us if you would like to borrow a book. You can still come to the discussion even if you have not read the book. If you are interested in attending, please
email to register, and we will send you the Zoom link.

Our Little Food Pantry Needs You
Our outdoor food pantry is being heavily used, with an estimated 12 visitors per day, both families and homeless individuals. YOU can help keep it stocked by signing up on the SignUp Genius.
As the economic crisis continues, it is clear that people in our neighborhood need a lot more than food. The supply of hygiene items that we collected this past winter is dwindling down. We could use more bars of soap and bottles of shampoo.
Someone suggested that offering good quality used children's clothing and new packs of underwear would be another good way to help our neighbors who are taking care of young children. Feel free to deposit items in the brown box near the RE wing doors. Thank you!

Lima Bean Salad
"No one will eat it," said my wife Alice. Ha! We left that Sunday potluck with an empty bowl. The backstory is that I often make pea salad for potlucks. One Sunday, we didn't have peas. So I used lima beans. Peas or limas, it's good either way.
Ingredients:
- 1 bag frozen lima beans or peas (or 2 cans of small peas)
- 2 boiled eggs
- 1 small, diced onion
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Paprika to taste (optional)
Instructions:
- Mix the ingredients together.
- Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate up to two days.
