From the March 22, 202 Service
From Jennifer Bannon: Sorrow: for all of those who have lost jobs, or whose income is now insecure, including my niece, who is six months pregnant. Joy: thank you to everyone who participated in this morning’s mindfulness practice. It was much needed.
From Becky Densmore: I am grateful to the many organizations that have offered free online resources and access to digital means for parents and learners of all ages to ensure they can continue their learning journeys.
From Erin Dittmer: Sorrow for all of the students who are missing from classrooms all over the world. Joy for the small ways we find lightness and community during these dark times.
From Wendy Graves: Our beloved 4 & 1/2 year old standard poodle Sami had to be put down a few days ago. We are missing her joyful presence.
From Claudia Gross: Claudia Gross faces a new health challenge. She has a benign tumor on her pituitary gland. Surgery is expected, but plans are incomplete. Calls, messages and concern are welcome anytime. Claudia is not sick and the uncertainty is making David a bit crazy.
From James Hannum: A joy for Dave Joncich's return to health. He was recently hospitalized for pneumonia for 5 days and is now home.
From Deanna Hence: Joy that I received the National Science Foundation CAREER award, and also that I am recovering well from a neck injury. The 5-year grant will enable me to create support systems for underrepresented students entering the Atmospheric Science program at UIUC. I am grateful to all of those that supported me in the long process of both submitting that grant and healing.
From Jenny Hunt: Joy that we can be together in this virtual space with the beauty of the rose window and the organ pipes. Sorrow that circumstances are nudging us to shift even further to remote services. May we all keep each other in our thoughts and prayers. Blessed be.
From Kim Kramer: Joy and gratitude to my coworkers at Carle who have been working overtime. This includes housekeepers, secretaries, repair people, medical assistants, nurses, nurse practioners, physician assistants, physicians, and administrators. As someone who has been working in the Covid 19 shed at the Curtis clinic, I am grateful to patients who have been understanding about our limited ability to test everyone.
From Kyle Kroha: Last week was my first week in a new/different on campus position. Am very grateful that I get to work from home. Be well Stay well.
From Julie Laut: We moved Julian back in to the house on Wednesday. It took some rearranging, but Having both of my children under the same roof brings comfort to my heart in this anxious time.
From Marie McEnroe: Our Uncle Ollie is in the hospital for bacterial meningitis. They have him in a medically induced coma while they try to treat him. Prayers requested. On another note: Joy for all those who showed interest in the online mindfulness practice, and sorrow for the previously unknown participant limit of the platform we used. We will figure out a way for everyone to participate next time!
From Mimi Ormerod: Finding joy in the UUCUC services and new connections with family and old friends via videoconferencing.
From Heidi Richter: Harrison Hall and Heidi Richter are joyous to announce our engagement. We will be married next summer of 2021!
From Umeeta Sadarangani: Gratitude for all my colleagues at Parkland College who have been supportive, compassionate, and creative during this very difficult time.
From Pamela Salela: My joy is being grateful for your live stream. Kathleen Robbins is a good friend of mine and I have been wanting to attend a Sunday service for some time. But being in Springfield makes that difficult. So, I am grateful to be able to join you today via your live stream.
