The Future of Landscape Conservation: A VIRTUAL POLICY FORUM

We are pleased to announce that the Network for Landscape Conservation is hosting a virtual policy forum on Friday, July 31, where leading policy experts will discuss the state of collaborative landscape conservation in the United States. Conservation has long been a bipartisan issue in this country, and there is increasing agreement that conservation at the larger landscape scale is essential to address not only pressing ecological issues such as water, fire, and climate, but also to simultaneously address community health and vitality, cultural heritage, local farms and forests, and equitable access to clean air, water, and healthy outdoor recreation.  We are fortunate to have an extraordinary group of leading thinkers in the field joining us to discuss strategies for advancing landscape conservation funding and policy at this critical time. SALLY JEWELL The former U.S. Secretary of the Interior (2013 – 2017) and previously the President and CEO of REI, a $2.6 billion outdoor adventure retailer.

COLLIN O'MARA The President and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation, the largest wildlife conservation organization in the United States.

MAMIE PARKER The former Assistant Director for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and current Board chair of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

LYNN SCARLETT The Chief External Affairs Officer at The Nature Conservancy and former Deputy Secretary and Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Department of the Interior.

TONY WASLEY Director of the Nevada Department of Wildlife and chair of the Executive Committee of the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies.

FORUM MODERATOR:

SACHA SPECTOR The Program Director for the Environment at the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, where he oversees all environmental conservation grant-making of the foundation. He previously served as Director of Conservation Science at Scenic Hudson.
