AUSTIN SHELTER IN PLACE POLICY & CONSTRUCTION

A number of people have contacted the Austin AGC today inquiring about the forthcoming "Shelter in Place" policy for Austin and whether or not construction will be deemed an essential service that can continue.   Earlier today we contacted both the Austin City Council and the Travis County Commissioners Court to  request that all construction services should be deemed essential services and exempt from a Shelter in Place order.   At this time (6pm on Monday, March 23) we are still working to determine what the final policy will include and what impact it will have on construction in Austin and Travis County.  As soon as we know something certain we will let you know.

Also, we have established a COVID-19 page on our website to house the frequent communications and resources we have been providing during this challenging time.

Please know that the Austin AGC, in partnership with other AGC Chapters in Texas and the
AGC of America , is monitoring this issue closely and we will provide additional resources and guidance as they become available.  In the meantime, both myself and Chapter Safety Director Michael Welvaert are available at any time to help you and your company address coronavirus issues as they impact construction activity.  Do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
