Dear Benchmarks' members,

Many of you asked and we inquired for clarification concerning the scope of agencies under the language in the   Executive Order 120 that includes ban of visitors to mental health group homes. 

Kody Kinsley verified that the language was supposed to say just group homes which would include the Children's Homes and ALL types of Group Homes, regardless of payer source. 

From this clarification, NC DSS will now alert the county DSS agencies that they are not allowed to visit your campuses until the executive order is overturned.

Rowan County Social Services makes operational modifications

Under authority of NCGS ยง 7B-905.1, Rowan County Social Services Director Donna Fayko has temporarily suspended visitation for foster youth as covid-19 makes in-person visitation inconsistent with the child's health and safety as well as the safety of the community at-large.  

Virtual visits will be arranged for parents through Skype, Facetime and Zoom.   It is important that parents stay in contact with their social workers.  General contact number for child welfare is 704-216-8440.   This process will be reviewed in 30 days.
