MESSAGE FROM THE CITY MANAGER

Welcome to the April edition of Your City @ Work, our monthly online newsletter for the City of Dunedin. What a difference a month makes! As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to impact everyone, I want you to know that we are doing everything we can to help you through this difficult time. Rest assured essential services such as public safety, water/sewer and solid waste will continue to operate at pre-pandemic levels. Right now, our nation’s emphasis is on the need to combat this virus by staying at home and social distancing if you must go out. As a result we’ve had to close our facilities to the public but we continue basic operations in all departments. While these are new and challenging times for everyone, we can all do our part by following the guidelines put in place by the CDC.

It is an amazing and wonderful thing to see how so many of you are supporting each other. From our sidewalk chalk artists to our Pipers on the Porch, our delightfulness is showing. Please be safe, stay at home! Oh, and remember to order take-out.

COVID-19 WEBINAR AND VIRTUAL DISCUSSION

For small businesses who are struggling to meet payroll and operating needs. The merchants are asking for a touchpoint with experts on how to manage through these challenges and who they should work with regarding the various business disaster loans that are available.

BUSINESS OWNERS SURVEY

The City is seeking opinions from Dunedin business owners as input to strategic planning and budgeting. To this end, Dunedin has contracted with Research Data Services, an independent research firm, to gather business owner insights and concerns.

As we all go through this uncertain time, the City of Dunedin knows you have concerns about how we will continue to provide necessary City services to you. The City of Dunedin will do everything we can to make this disruption as seamless as we can and to update you as often as we get information.

PINELLAS COUNTY CLOSES BEACHES

The Pinellas County Commission has unanimously voted to close all public beaches and parking areas.The order is part of an expansion of the County's local state of emergency, which was activated over concerns about the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. The beach closures will last until the end of April.

April 2020 is Scottish American Heritage Month. Dunedin is proud of the rich Scottish heritage of its founding fathers. We celebrate that heritage annually with a number of events, including the Dunedin Highland Games & Festival in the spring and the Dunedin Celtic Festival in the fall.
