WHEN GOD PAINTS
Autumn: When God Paints

Do you ever wonder where time goes when it flies?  I know I sure do!  For some reason this year seems to have flown by at warp speed.  A few minutes ago we were celebrating June birthdays, the 4th of July, and the joys of August.  Then, suddenly, the air is not only cooler but everything is beginning to
feel different.

One of the things I love to do this time of the year is sit by an open window, feeling the cool air.  With a cup of hot chocolate I can listen to the trees talking to each other.  Each tree sounds unique as the breezes tickle their leaves. Trees are like us, they are alive and they all have different personalities. They are the guardians of the earth. They know things.

I love all the seasons but fall has always captivated me.  It's fun and humbling to imagine our earth contemplating dressing for cooler weather.  The golden-orange tips of leaves are the first clues for us to think about, gasp, sweaters!

It's the season of change, the change from the inside out.  It is the season where we contemplate our experiences, both positive and difficult, and decide how to integrate them in our lives for personal growth and spiritual fulfillment.  We can nurture them through winter so they can be in full positive bloom when spring rolls around.  It is also time for one of the most magnificent shows on earth.

I am ready, are you?

"I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree.  A tree that looks at God all day and lifts its leafy arms to pray"

Excerpt from Trees by Joyce Kilmer

KINDNESS
THE KINDNESS CONNECTION

Most of us have busy days filled with the business of jobs, family time, errands, well, just living.  Sometimes that busy-ness keeps us focused only on what we have to do each day to 'beat the clock.'   We all take the time to be nice, but is being nice the same thing as being kind?

Have you ever noticed when you make authentic eye contact with someone the person you have made eye contact with is smiling more, their body language perks up, they relax.  Suddenly, you find yourself feeling the same way.  That moment of connection seems really small, but it really isn't.   In that moment we can see how huge it is because we experience the wonderful feeling it is to be really seen.

Some of our most 'invisible' folks are those out in public in a  wheelchair.  Because it feels awkward at first most people tend to walk on by.   I invite you to acknowledge the awkwardness and give it a try; after all,  it just takes a few seconds to stop, meet someone's eyes, and just say "Hello."

We all have our own ways of being kind because most of us are basically kind by nature.  The challenge is taking that extra time to express it especially when we are the busiest.
"Be kinder than necessary for everyone you meet
is fighting some kind of battle"

YOU ARE INVITED!

Marty's Dreamscape Art Studio INVITED

After my second of seven eye surgeries I had to lie face down on a massage table for several weeks.  When I learned doctors were unable to save the vision in one eye and was diagnosed with macular degeneration in the other eye, I began an intense self-pity party.  Finally I was told it was ok to sit up.   So was the first thing I did? I checked my email.  Go figure.

Synchronistically, the very first email of that day was one I will never forget.  It was from Beliefnet.com with their angel message of the day.  It was a quote by James Hillman which read:

"To see the angel in the malady requires an eye for the invisible,
a sort of blinding of one eye in order to see elsewhere."

Needless to say that quote ended my pity party.  At first I thought my art was a thing of the past but a dream showed me there was another way.  That way was to do the same thing as I'd always done ... paint what I see and what I feel.   The difference is what I see and feel is totally different that it was 'before.'

I began painting the emotions and subliminal images of my dreams then those of clients.  It has been an interesting journey to say the least.  I invite you to take a look at some of them, see what you see.  Your way of looking at any one will be different than anyone else's and unique to only you.

  Goodbye Mom

I dreamed of my mom shortly after she died.  To me, Mom had always been larger than life, she still is.

In my dream a brilliant golden light came down and completely surrounded her.  I suddenly recognized it as an army of angels.   They began lifting her into the heaven, it looked like an enormous flower ascending into space.

If you look at the bottom right corner, you will see the person grieving,  That is me.

Color Collision

What would happen if you threw several different colors in the air?  what would it look like once all the different hues landed on a canvas?

In my dream the colors collided in midair then landed on the canvas.   How about a pair of matching non-matching
