Speaking from Forrest City, Gov. Asa Hutchinson said at his daily COVID-19 briefing, which included an announcement on when the state's bars can reopen for business.
Hutchinson said that bars that are within restaurants can reopen tomorrow, May 19. Freestanding bars that are not associated with restaurants will be allowed to reopen May 26.
Hutchinson said that 2,329 tests for the virus have been given in the last 24 hours. Arkansas currently has a 2.8 percent positivity rate, with approximately 290 positive cases per 10,000 people.
Arkansas so far has 4,813 COVID-19 cumulative cases. Of those, 1,068 are active with 378 cases in prisons and 99 in the state's nursing homes. The remaining 591 active cases that have been detected are in the community. Currently, there are 77 people hospitalized, 12 of those on ventilators, and 100 people have died from the virus.

Saline & Garland Counties
As of Monday, 82 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Saline County and 2,441 have tested negative. Of those testing positive, 71 have recovered. The total number of people who have died in Saline County remains at one.
In Garland County, 129 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 3,223 have tested negative. Of the people infected, 117 have recovered and one has died.
