A Letter from the Headmaster
Dear Families,

I pray that this note meets you all in health and hope. As your students enjoy the extended Spring Break this week, be assured to know that your teachers have enthusiastically embraced this new project and are working tirelessly to prepare scholars and parents for remote learning.

On Monday, March 30, families will receive access to packets of rich material and activities for scholars to enjoy at home. During this time, we encourage our parents to play an active role in the educational experience by creating routines, setting aside a special workspace for students to focus, and checking in with them throughout the day.

As our students entered our building each morning, they passed under these words from Virgil’s Aeneid: Haec limina victor Alcides subiit —"under this doorway victorious Hercules once passed”. These words remind us of the great minds and souls who have cut the path to goodness and virtue in ages prior, often in the face of great and dire adversity. As our faculty and staff returned to work this week, it was with these timeless words in our hearts that we commenced the great project ahead. I call upon our students to reflect upon these words as well in the days to come.

As our priority is to support our parent community, teachers will be available via email Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to answer any questions you may have. Families may also reach out to  info@greatheartsirving.org  for assistance.

As you settle into new routines for the time being, please consider supporting our community by ordering takeout from the local, GHI family-owned restaurant, Lamberti’s Ristorante and Wine Bar. Place an order by calling or visiting  lambertiristorante.com . They are offering a 20% discount on curbside pickup and delivery orders for all GHI families!

Stay connected by tuning in to our website, newsletters, and social media. Thank you for sharing notes and pictures. Please continue to let us know how you are doing at home and if there is any way we can serve you and your family during this time.

Warm regards,
