We will celebrate Rev. Margret O’Neall and Anthony Johnson’s time with our beloved community with a coffee hour celebration. Join us to honor these two incredible spiritual leaders and send them on their next journeys with gifts of appreciation and love. In addition, we want to provide Rev. Margret with a “Minister’s Innovation Fund” to take with her to her next congregation, just as we benefited from the fund that she brought with her when she came to us. Civic Engagement
This week, Civic Engagement is addressing the horrible detention of migrant children. You may write a postcard to your congressperson, and we will give you information on donating to a Texas humanitarian effort that will reach the children directly.

Earth Justice Ministry/ Green Sanctuary
Green Tip -
Place 1-5 reusable shopping bags in your car so you don't forget to have them when you go shopping.
Blue Tip -
Prefer to use a dishwasher to wash dishes. It uses less water. But if you wash dishes by hand, make sure not to leave the tap running constantly to rinse.
Donations of recycled materials are still being accepted in the green box under the Earth Justice table at the back of the sanctuary. When you get around to cleaning out your closets, remember the ARC (Art Resource Center).

The most vibrant worship communities gather together as families, friends, and fellow travelers to anxiously engage in mutual support and spiritual practice, not to passively partake of somebody else’s worship work. How can we as individuals and a congregation move from passivity to engagement and achieve the spiritually vibrant community we all crave?

BLUU Worship Service Watch

Are you a Black Unitarian Universalist feeling in need of connection with other Black UU’s?? We invite Black Unitarian Universalists and all Black people to join us for online worship. BLUU worship is built specifically for black UU’s as a Sacred Black Space. This is an opportunity for black UU’s to come worship together with one another. It is a smaller more intimate gathering. Becoming A Safer Congregation - Active Shooter Training
|
We are constantly reminded that the world can be a dangerous and unpredictable place. The Safe Congregation Team will be presenting “Active Shooter Training” on the following Sundays throughout the summer, all from 12:00-1:00p in Annex B on July 21 and August 4. This will be a tabletop slideshow presentation, with a video and conversation afterward.
(Note: we will
not
be conducting any surprise, simulated Active Shooter/Lockdown drills at UUCP).
Adults (18 and over, or under 18 if a COA graduate) are encouraged to attend one of these sessions. Childcare will be provided. Contact Jan Kaplan if questions.

The Property Team is Back- And We Need You!
We have a new Property Team starting up. So far we have a small core group but we need YOU! It does not matter if everyone knows the difference between a hammer and a screwdriver, there are lots of other tasks besides fixing stuff that you can help with. We need long term planning, supervision of small projects, maintaining and enhancing our 9 acre property, working with the Safety Team, the EEC and DVLC and other groups. Unicare Request
We have an open meal train available for Cyndi Young and Tara Hall. (Judy Mitzner has changed her name to Tara Hall). Cyndi has metastatic breast cancer in her spine and hip, which is both extremely painful and limiting to her mobility. In addition, her white blood cell count is very low leaving her vulnerable to illness and infection. This link will give further information and meal details, as well as allow you to sign up for a specific date.

Children’s Art Exhibit 2019

This year’s Children’s Art Exhibit, currently on display in the Sanctuary, consists of contributions from Desert View Learning Center (Kindergarten through fourth grade) and the Early Education Cooperative Preschool (ages 2 -5). Sonja Saar, who teaches art at DVLC, is dedicated to drawing out the artist within every child. The EEC encourages art expressions which are developmentally appropriate and enhance a child’s creativity.

The new patio wall is built and the last section of concrete for the patio is scheduled to be poured next week. The upper parking lot will also begin to take shape with curbs being poured. Asphalt should be laid by the end of July.
The play structure that the EEC provided in the sand yard is amazing. It has a built- in mister system to help keep kids cooler so they can use it for more months out of the year. The new wifi system is being installed and speaker wire was installed to office 1, 2, and the bathrooms on Wednesday. Soon ushers will be able to hear the services in office 2 while they are counting the offering. A sampling company came out and bored two 15 ft holes (which are now filled), to check site conditions for the front entrance to plan whether or not we will have hard dig conditions.

Place to Lincoln Drive and then use the sidewalk to get to our main parking lot.
While the upper parking lot is CLOSED and the accessible entrance is the ramped south door that you get to via the path on the left (south) side of the building from the main parking lot.
