Our People Drive Innovation
With the help of
IRisvr, Shapiro and Duncan
can understand installation and sequencing requirements for complex spaces with the use of virtual reality. We are
currently pushing our 3D models into the cloud for easy virtual reality viewing.
Our Virtual Design Coordinators and Project Managers can gain a better grasp of coordination issues and quickly identify any site constraint challenges on a project. Our field leaders are able to view installations and provide instant feedback without working through a complex building information model.
We are using VR on two projects, Georgetown University Medstar Hospital and Signal House. For the hospital, we are able to virtually mock up OR and patient rooms to visualize equipment and valve access. We will be able to fully understand how our traditional built systems will interact with prefabricated bathroom pods being furnished by the owner. For office building, we are working with a highly complex HVAC system in a small footprint. Using VR has helped our teams visualize the installation to better grasp how life safety requirements will be accounted for and for sequencing.
In the near future, we plan to host multi user VR meetings to work through any design and coordination issues. Owners will be able to access their building in a virtual
world during the planning phase. Revisions identified earlier in the process will be much more cost effective and avoid rework in finished spaces.
