Dr. Dan Dumbacher

Dan Dumbacher is the Executive Director of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
Before joining the AIAA staff in January 2018, Dumbacher was a Professor of Engineering Practice in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University, where he taught courses in systems thinking, systems engineering, and space policy.
Prior to Purdue, Dumbacher served as the Deputy Associate Administrator, Exploration Systems Development Division, Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters.
In that capacity, he provided leadership and management as the Program Director for Exploration Systems Development, which included: the Space Launch System, Orion, and Ground Systems Development and Operations development and integration efforts. He led a national team of over 5,000, spanning all NASA centers and industry, and was responsible for a $3 billion annual budget.

During his career, he has received numerous awards and honors including the coveted Silver Snoopy Award and the NASA Distinguished Service Medal. In 2015, Purdue recognized him with the Gustafson Teaching Award.

Dr. Jeffrey Puschell
 
Dr. Jeff Puschell is an internationally recognized scientist-engineer with 30+ years of proven success as Principal Investigator, Chief Scientist, Chief Engineer, Technical Director or Lead System Engineer on 15+ major projects sponsored by governments and private industry in space-based remote sensing, laser-based systems, observational astrophysics and underwater laser systems. He is author or co-author of 130+ technical publications, co-editor and co-author of Space Mission Engineering: The New SMAD, the leading textbook and reference source for space systems engineering, co-author for Standard Handbook for Aerospace Engineers, 2nd Edition and co-author for AccessScience, among many other publications.  He is a Raytheon Principal Engineering Fellow, AIAA Fellow and SPIE Fellow.  He and his wife Dana live in Hermosa Beach and Solvang, California.

Mr. Waldman brings over 42 years of DoD Navy and Air Force Program Management experience to SIL from his technical involvement with Cruise Missile, Space Shuttle, Titan IV, Minuteman, Peacekeeper and Eastern/Western Range Data Acquisition and Processing Systems. Having successfully authored and prosecuted numerous Patents, Mr. Waldman’s insight and understanding of what’s necessary to bring a product to the commercial/military market is continually demonstrated via the fielding of these and other key technologies at SIL.

Leading SIL projects include the Vehicle Based Independent Tracking System (VBITS) Patent # 5739787, Military Grade Small Satellites, Space Rated Battery/Power Systems, Vehicle Based Independent Range System (VBIRS), Patent Publication # US20170328678A1, granted as Patent #10,302,398 on 28 May 2019. All systems support Missile, Rocket, Hypersonic, Satellite, Aircraft and UAV operations.

Recent work with the NevadansCAN and NDIA has enabled Mr. Waldman to become a team-member with the Small Modular Nuclear Reactor/Microgrid development for Nevada test & implementation: https://ndia-snv.org/reactors-%2F-microgrids B.S. Electrical Engineering, Northeastern University. 34+ Years of Navy/Air Force Civil Service prior to his current Private Sector Service.

Bill Kelly

Bill Kelly is a Senior Member of AIAA recently retired from the Aerojet Rocketdyne Corporation after 19 years of service plus 26 more years at other aerospace (Marquardt, Vacco Industries, etc.) and power industry (Babcock and Wilcox) companies . He was recently elected Treasurer of the Los Angeles-Las Vegas Section of AIAA. His experience at Babcock and Wilcox includes system design and start-up testing of large steam boilers and nuclear reactors (Three Mile Island, etc.). His experience at Marquardt includes small rocket engine and ramjet testing (NASP, etc.) and naval weapons systems development. His experience at Aerojet Rocketdyne includes large rocket engine system engineering, assembly and testing (RS-84, J-2X, RS-25, etc.) and system engineering for the MMRTG (Multi Mission Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator). He holds a BSME from New York University, a MSNE from the University of Virginia and a post-graduate certificate in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from UCLA.

Fred Lawler

Fred Lawler is a Senior Systems & Test Engineer at Raytheon-El Segundo.He possesses significant OEM & SETA Payload & Avionics experience withan MSEE from GWU & a BSEE from Virginia Tech.  He is current K-12/STEMOutreach Chair for AIAA-LA/LV Chapter & has conducted several Resume &Career Workshops & runs an Annual Mars Rover & Professional Society Expo.

Fred's Talk will center on Career & Resume Insights, given the challenging &very-online job search technology available.  He will review many Career &Resume 'Tips & Tricks' to survive the current job market, plus a Q&A session.
