Family COVID Update
7.10.2020
Dear Residents & Families,

Thanks for supporting our efforts. We’re doing everything we can to protect your loved ones and our staff during this pandemic.

COVID-19 TESTING
As of today, we have no positive cases of COVID-19 in our Bainbridge Senior Living communities. We are actively monitoring for symptoms or circumstances which match those related to COVID-19. Move-ins are being welcomed with safety protocols in place, including quarantine.

Madrona House recently concluded universal coronavirus testing. All staff – which included outside therapists and some shared administration members – and all consenting residents tested negative.

COMMUNITY UPDATE
Covid-19 is on the upswing across our state. Kitsap County has fared better than some but will remain in Phase 2 of the Safe Start plan for COVID-19 recovery until at least July 16 th . After reporting no cases in most of April and all of May, there have been five new cases on Bainbridge Island since the beginning of June.

Despite ongoing virtual visits and limited window visits, we understand there is no substitute for closer contact. Our internal COVID Response Team has been working hard behind the scenes to develop protocols for supervised outdoor patio visits. Please note that these will be introduced at different times across our communities. Madrona House will be the first to host patio visits, but visits across all our communities will share these controlled safety guidelines:
  • Visits will be 15-20 minutes long and will require a reservation (limit one visit per week; one guest per visit)
  • Visits will take place at designated outdoor stations
  • All visitors will be screened prior to visits
  • Plexiglass dividers will be present to reduce exposure (see pictures)
  • Guests must be masked at all times and remain on their side of the plexiglass
  • Physical contact will not yet be possible; 6 foot social distancing must be maintained
  • No food or drink during visits
  • No pets
  • Our staff will observe from a distance for privacy
  • Care packages can be left with staff
  • Stations will be sanitized between visits

We know this solution is imperfect, but we hope it provides some solace and joy to families and residents alike while we work together towards the day when we can hug in safety.

With Gratitude,
Morgan Rohrbach
President and CEO
