Is it Spring Yet?
Neighborhood Cleanup Postponed

It's disappointing to announce our much needed spring cleanup needs to be postponed but most important of course is to get to a time where we can safely get together.

Please stay tuned for a new date.
Worcester Cyanobacteria Monitoring Collaborative

If you missed they WCMC virtual training, there is still time to get involved! Find out how you can help Worcester's waterways and learn about the organisms that live in just a tiny drop of water! The WCMC relies on volunteers to collect water samples and bring it to the beautiful Blackstone Heritage Corridor Visitors Center to examine it under the microscope and record the findings, working right alongside our Lake & Pond Division experts who are there to guide and assist.

Indian Lake Watershed Association Annual Meeting

Thank you to everyone who participated in our very first 'virtual' annual meeting! It was great to see some new faces. We received a great summary of last season's successes and challenges from a lake management perspective. Plus, learned about plans for this season, including the installation of an Alum Dosing Station which we expect will be pivotal in reducing nutrients before they enter the lake. This state-of-the-art technology has successfully  reduced cyanobacteria blooms and the need for in lake algaecide treatments in similar sized water bodies.
COVID-19 Inland Boating Guidelines

The boat ramp at Morgan Park is owned by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and managed by the City of Worcester. At this time, the ramp remains open as long as on site parking is available to support launching.

The state has issued guidelines for inland boating and launches during Governor Baker's stay-at-home advisory.

ANGLER SURVEY DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL JUNE 30th

The City of Worcester Lakes and Ponds Division, with support from local watershed partners, is focused on identifying water quality challenges that are directly impacting local fisheries.

As part of this effort, it's important to gather as much local knowledge as possible so that management solutions can be evaluated.

We have developed an Angler Survey which will be available June 30th, 2020 for you to share your experiences fishing Worcester's waterways. Fishing enthusiasts of all levels are encouraged to participate in the survey which incorporates a mix of multiple choice and open ended opportunities for input and suggestions. Please complete the survey and encourage others to participate.

Thank you in advance for helping us continue to protect, preserve and improve our waterways!
