Dear District 113 Families,

I am writing to give you an update on COVID-19.

Suspected Case Reported 3-12
The reported case of COVID-19 at Deerfield High School was a family member of a student. When there is a reported case of COVID-19, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) confirms whether the test is positive. I will communicate after the Illinois Department of Public Health has confirmed whether the case is positive or negative.

Facilities
Our custodial staff is disinfecting the high touch areas in both high schools Saturday. Students will be able to enter the building to retrieve any items they need on Tuesday between 10:00 and 2:00. If there are students who can only access the building outside that timeframe, please email the principal and she will make arrangements.

On Wednesday, all the surfaces in each high school will be disinfected. Once the buildings have been disinfected, only essential staff will be allowed into the buildings.

SAT Test
Because the schools are closed, no SAT tests will be given Saturday. The schools will contact students with more information when the College Board provides it.

Future Communications
  • A communication is coming soon to families and students about eLearning, which is planned at the moment to begin on Wednesday.

  • A communication is coming soon to parents of students with disabilities.

  • A communication will be coming after IDPH confirms whether the suspected COVID-19 case is positive or negative.

It goes without saying that these are stressful times because of all the uncertainty about COVID-19. In addition to physical health, I hope that you are all looking after each other emotionally. We are all in this together.
