Testimonial

During my internship at the Iranian American Women Foundation, I learned to utilize a lot of social media marketing techniques. In addition, I was able to assist and learn more about conference planning. I had the opportunity to learn how a nonprofit organization operates and had the chance to become acquainted with successful Iranian Women. Learning about the journeys of successful Iranian women, I felt greatly empowered in pursuing my own goals in the future. It helped to know that women with my own background have overcome obstacles to obtain the strength they have today. A significant encounter during my internship was during a "Connect" event. I was able to network and learn about Dr. Sherry Nooravi's career as an organizational psychologist. After my encounter, I was able to research and learn more about this career which helped me to narrow down my options for graduate school. Overall, I would say this internship has been a great self reflection opportunity. By observing such strong Iranian women, I feel that I am more aware of the strength of women with my own roots and feel enthusiastic in the steps I take in building the foundation for my own future. Such strong women are a great mirror in establishing my own unique success.

Roshanak's love for the culinary arts started early, as a young girl in her aunt's kitchen in Mazandaran, Iran. For Roshanak, baking is a work of art, with each pastry made lovingly by hand, with the finest organic and traditional ingredients. Roshanak knows the value of good mentorship first hand and owes the success of Popilee to her advisors from the Women's Enterprise Action Loan Fund, who encouraged her to focus on authentic Persian cooking and build her business to fill an unmet niche.
