During its school board meeting on June 30th, the Santa Fe Public School District released a summary of its plan to reopen schools in the fall. A finalized plan will be publicized after teacher, parent, and student surveys are completed in the coming week.
The New Mexico Public Education Department is requiring all districts to submit their plans for reopening schools by July 15. Its guidelines call for a hybrid model, combining in-person class time with online classes.
These guidelines also require schools to open at 50 percent capacity or less to ensure 6 feet of social distancing.
With the recommendations, half the students would attend classes on campus Mondays and Tuesdays and the other half of the student body would attend Thursdays and Fridays, with Wednesdays being reserved as a designated cleaning day.
