SFPS Upcoming School Year
During its school board meeting on June 30th, the Santa Fe Public School District released a summary of its plan to reopen schools in the fall. A finalized plan will be publicized after teacher, parent, and student surveys are completed in the coming week.

The New Mexico Public Education Department is requiring all districts to submit their plans for reopening schools by July 15. Its guidelines call for a hybrid model, combining in-person class time with online classes. These guidelines also require schools to open at 50 percent capacity or less to ensure 6 feet of social distancing.

With the recommendations, half the students would attend classes on campus Mondays and Tuesdays and the other half of the student body would attend Thursdays and Fridays, with Wednesdays being reserved as a designated cleaning day.

You can learn more about the plan here.

O'Keeffe Art & Leadership Summer Program

Previous Art and Leadership Program participants.
In place of the in-person Art and Leadership Program, the Education Team at The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum is offering a hands-on, offline program this summer. With the program, students are able to engage with hands-on art activities and moments of self-reflection.

ArtWorks Teaching Artists are excited to be collaborating with the O'Keeffe Education Team to remotely lead arts education lessons for the program this year!

Participants this summer have access to art challenges, art kits, optional online professional artist studio tours, as well as an opportunity to display their art completed during the program publicly. There are 3 two-week programs which include activities that promote self-awareness and identity development for aspiring young artists and leaders.

Similar to past years, the program is only for students who are returnees to the program, or have been nominated by their teachers this past school year. Learn more here!
