Effective at 10:00pm Sunday, December 13, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom's and the Monterey County Health Officer's latest Stay at Home orders require all REALTORs to refer back to industry guidance published by the Cal/OSHA and the California Department of Public Health in May. Please take some time to review these as we reenter stage two in the COVID-19 Resilience Roadmap. Please note, County Health Department orders are not superceded by these guidelines. MCAR will continue dialogues with County officials and share updates as soon as the information is available.
While in-person showings are allowed as long as Health Department guidelines are followed, bear in mind some may still want to use virtual showings, as this is the only real way to eliminate the chance of infection.
The prerequisites for operating are many and require significant action. MCAR recommends that all brokers review and assess the requirements listed in the Guidance for Real Estate PDF as well as the accompanying Checklist for Real Estate PDF before opening any Monterey County office to ensure the conditions contained in the guidance are met. To operate an office, responsible individuals must create or review existing specific plans that meet the Cal/OSHA guidance for:
- The workplace
- Shown properties
- Employee training with specific topics
- Workplace specific individual control measures and screening
- Cleaning and disinfecting protocols for workplaces
- Cleaning and disinfecting protocols for shown properties
- Physical distancing guidelines for shown properties
The Monterey County Public Health Officer cautioned that any business that does not meet the requirements of the guidance shall not open and may be cited for any violations found during an on-site inspection.
