"I believe, help my unbelief" - Mark 9:24

WELCOME & CALL TO WORSHIP          Psalm 40:4-5
We hear and respond to this call from God’s word to focus our hearts and minds on him in worship:

Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust,
who does not turn to the proud,
    to those who go astray after a lie!
You have multiplied, O Lord my God,
    your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us;
    none can compare with you!
I will proclaim and tell of them,
    yet they are more than can be told.

PRAYER OF ADORATION            (Use the prayer below or one of your own)
We praise God for his character and his works, and we seek his presence and glory in our worship

O God, You are infinite, eternal, unchangeable, glorious in holiness, full of love and compassion, abounding in grace and truth. The heavens declare Your glory and the skies proclaim the works of your hands. You take pleasure in your people, You adorn the humble with salvation, and You call your children to rejoice and give praise to You, the one true God and our faithful Father. You have redeemed us in Christ. Through Him we now enter into Your presence, to offer a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that profess His name, and to love and to worship You with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Pour out Your Spirit upon us and be glorified in us, we pray. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

SONG OF PRAISE
Come, Thou fount of every blessing tune my heart to sing Thy grace.
Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it, mount of God's redeeming love.

Here I raise my Ebenezer; hither by Thy help I come.
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger wand'ring from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood.

Oh, to grace how great a debtor daily I'm constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wand'ring heart to Thee:
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love.
Here's my heart, Lord, take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love.
Here's my heart, Lord, take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.

Are you thirsty; Are you empty? Come and drink these living waters.
Tired and broken; Peace unspoken. Rest beside these living waters.

Christ is calling; Find refreshing. At the cross of living waters.
Lay your life down; All the old gone. Rise up in these living waters.

Chorus:
There’s a river that flows with mercy and love
Bringing joy to the city of our God
There our hope is secure; Do not fear anymore
Praise the Lord of living waters!

Spirit moving; Mercy washing. Healing in these living waters.
Lead your children; To the shore line. Life is in these living waters. (chorus)

Are you thirsty; Are you empty? Come and drink these living waters.
Love, forgiveness; Vast and boundless. Christ, He is our living waters. (chorus)

READING GOD’S WORD                Psalm 130

PRAYER OF CONFESSION    (Use the prayer below or one of your own)
We acknowledge our sins to God, ask for his forgiveness, and pray for the Holy Spirit’s enabling grace to walk in righteousness by faith.

God of mercy, we confess that we find it difficult to wait for You. We are an impatient people. You have saved us from sin, and You promise to satisfy our deepest needs, but we want our desires satisfied now. We want excellent health and financial security; peaceful relationships and satisfying careers; perfect spouses, children, parents, and friends; perfect churches; and freedom from disruption, weakness and besetting sins. We want heaven now, and we struggle with anger and bitterness when you keep your promise that our lives here on earth will be characterized by suffering and tribulation. Lord, if You should mark our iniquities, who could stand? Forgive us, O God. Holy Spirit, give us peace and patience to wait upon the Lord and to remember and rejoice in His steadfast love and plentiful redemption. Jesus, be patient with us as we wait in hope for the fullness of Your salvation, and grant us the joy of that salvation daily. In Your name we pray, Amen.*
(*Adapted from Prone to Wander: Prayers of Confession and Celebration by Barbara Duguid)

WORDS OF ASSURANCE             Micah 7:18-19
  We receive God’s promise in his word of his forgiveness for sin and the blessings of eternal life in Christ Jesus.

Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell.* The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,† the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
* Meaning that Christ took upon himself the full wrath of God for our sins on the cross.
† Meaning the "universal" church made up of all true believers in Jesus.

MESSAGE FROM GOD’S WORD                  Mark 6:1-6
Welcome Home?

TIME OF PRAYER
( Use this time to pray for the specific needs in the Ambassador Prayer Journal, as well as God’s provision, guidance, protection, and healing mercies; His church, our country, the nations; for those who are sick, suffering, in need; for the vulnerable, persecuted and oppressed; for missionaries and ministries; for the gospel to go forth freely and bring salvation to many.

SONG OF RESPONSE
’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, and to take Him at His word;
Just to rest upon His promise, and to know “Thus saith the Lord!”

Refrain: Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
                How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
                Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus
               O for grace to trust Him more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me, ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood! (Refrain)

Yes ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus, Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking, Life and rest, and joy and peace. (Refrain)

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee, Precious Jesus, Savior, friend;
And I know that Thou art with me, Wilt be with me to the end. (Refrain)
